Weed Destroyer stronger tine blades than the Weed Popper?

DURABLE STRONG-STEEL DESIGN – The Weasel Weed Popper Step & Twist is made with carbon steel.

So I broke the Weed Popper - after about 1000 weeds. It held up pretty well. The weeds also pull up a lot of soil as the tool creates big divots. It's good to aerate the grass roots - one would hope - but we haven't gotten any rain in a while so not sure how well the holes will close up.

Low Carbon Steel (Mild Steel):  Typically contain 0.04% to 0.30% carbon content. This is one of the largest groups of Carbon Steel. It covers a great diversity of shapes; from Flat Sheet to Structural Beam. Depending on the desired properties needed, other elements are added or increased. For example: Drawing Quality (DQ) – The carbon level is kept low and Aluminum is added, and for Structural Steel the carbon level is higher and the manganese content is increased.

Medium Carbon Steel: Typically has a carbon range of 0.31% to 0.60%, and a manganese content ranging from .060% to 1.65%. This product is stronger than low carbon steel, and it is more difficult to form, weld and cut. Medium carbon steels are quite often hardened and tempered using heat treatment.

High Carbon Steel: Commonly known as “carbon tool steel” it typically has a carbon range between 0.61% and 1.50%. High carbon steel is very difficult to cut, bend and weld. Once heat treated it becomes extremely hard and brittle.

So the Corona Weed Destroyer (previously called the Weed Slayer) appears to be stronger:

Fully heat-treated, high carbon steel blades for extra strength when driving into the soil.

 YET there is this criticism:

blades appear to be glued on.

What?

Maybe that's the Weed Slayer - the older version - and the newer Weed Destroyer is better.

No - that's the Weed Destroyer. I think it is "welded" but sometimes the weld is bad.

At 4.17 pounds, the WeedDESTROYER is appreciably heavier than other similar tools – in fact, it’s more than twice as heavy as many of its competitors. The shaft is thicker and heavier than others, and at 40 inches from handle to blade tip, it’s 4 inches longer than many similar types of tools.

well yeah - how much does the Weed Popper weigh?

Wow - only 2.5 pounds.

Hmm that's Amazon. Walmart says it weighs 1.33 pounds.

Strange.

The company site does not give the weight. So maybe the person doing the web adds just guessed.

yeah ACE gives no weight for it - they're not gonna guess. haha.

So the Weed Popper tine blades kept bending from tree roots or rocks or asphalt - so I just bent the tine blades back with a big crescent wrench from my back pocket. Seemed to work fine but the bending got worse - and then the blade snapped off.

The WELD held at the connection of the blade.

So now I'll try the Corona product.
