Vitality, Positive and negative: Positive vitality is male vitality that
soars up and negative vitality is female vitality that goes down.
They are symbolised by the tiger and dragon respectively. See

all of a sudden the positive fire will soar up from the base
of the spine to the top of the head when you breathe in
Now for the tricky part - Positive Fire is also the Yang Shen!
The method of purifying the generative force is taught
in Chapter 6 and consists of sending the positive fire (yang
huo) up

that existed before birth
This positive fire can transmute the agent in the stove into
vitality (in order to stop its overflow).

And now together: Yang Qi plus Yang shen:
It consists of raising the positive fire
(in the tu mo or channel of control) to the head thirty-six
times in its advance called the ascent of positive fire, and
then lower it (in the channel of function or jen mo in the
front of the body) twenty-four times in its retreat called the
descent of negative fire. Each rotation is completed in a
full (in and out) breath during which spirit and vitality
move or halt together in the juxtaposed orbits of the earth
(i.e. the lower abdomen) and the sun (the head), spirit being
set in motion by the (movements of the eyes),
if he does not
raise the positive fire and lower its negative counterpart;
and that he will not be able to stop the drain of the elixir
at night.
The microcosmic sublimation of vitality has been
taught in Chapter 6. The method consists of rolling the eyes
nine times in each of the four phases (from A to D, G and J)
or thirty-six times in all to raise positive fire for the purpose
of shutting the Mysterious Gate (pi kuan),
After the first manifestation of positive fire as
explained above, the practiser should obtain the four
necessities and go to a quiet place where he should continue
to maintain the union of the lights of (essential) nature and
(eternal) life. As time passes the golden light will suddenly
reappear much brighter;
Hence the divine
mirror which is achieved only after positive fire has trans¬
muted the demons into prenatal (divine) spirit.
And some final crucial notes:
if spirit wanders
outside, vitality will scatter to become generative fluid the
exhaustion of which leads to death.

by concentrating on spirit
to gather vitality he will thereby cultivate (eternal) life;

If the generative
force is not purified prenatal vitality [yuan qi] will not develop

It is due to this small amount of positive yang
in the eyes that man is not overwhelmed by the negative
yin. This positive yang should be used at the beginning
of alchemical training to root out all latent ailments that
have accumulated in the body.
So the left eye is positive or yang shen and the right eye is positive or yang qi [vitality]. BOTH are called positive fire.
Sun: The left eye which stands for the positive yang; it also
stands for the heart.
For the positive yang cannot accumulate without aid from the negative yin

This is the transmutation of basic vitality to invigorate
spirit which is ‘my spirit of no spirit (i.e. the inexpressible).

Spirit comes from the sublimation of vitality and vitality from the purification
of the generative force.
and
Your two eyes, though
separate, have only one root; if both eyes roll round their
root will move as well. The left eye stands for the East
whose element is wood [yin qi] and the right eye for the West
whose element is metal [yang qi]. The element of wood turns west¬
ward to unite with the element of metal and the latter
turns eastward to mingle with the former. This is the union
of both elements causing the (vital) breath in the brain and
the psychic strength to develop, expand and unite into one
whole reaching the core of the brain where it transmutes
the (microcosmic) outer alchemical agent (already gathered
there) into life-preserving true vitality; this is (eternal) life
returning to (essential) nature to become one whole
and
unite the element of metal (male)
with that of wood (female) and the sun [yang shen] with the moon [yin shen]
in one place by drawing his pupils closely together in
a squint
and
For the human body envelops vitality which in turn contains
spirit. Hence when (vital) breath leaves the body a
man dies and when vitality scatters, his spirit, lacking
support, will become a ghost.

He who does not know the potency of the original cavity
of spirit cannot produce basic vitality.
He who
does not know how to raise positive and lower negative
fire, cannot develop the light of basic vitality.
He who does not know how to gather the alchemical agent,
cannot transmute the generative force into basic
vitality and lift it to the brain.

yes it is complicated so you need to study the Taoist Yoga book more. The left eye is the LIVER energy (wood as yin qi) - the liver energy goes right up to the eyes during the day with the eyes open. The right eye is the LUNG energy (yang qi with substance). So the left eye is the HUN soul or cloud soul. The right eye as the Po soul then CLINGS to the Hun soul - as the hun soul is fire and so is pure and easily flies out of the body. So that causes separation by the po soul then going back down via the hun soul going out of the eyes. So for alchemy you close the eyes so that the Hun soul as a yin shen then turns into a Yang shen so then the Po soul clings to the fire going down. So that is how the copulation of dragon (yin qi) and tiger (yang qi) works - there is yang within yin and vice versa. So the water has to go back DOWN the front in order to store up the Yuan Qi as the Golden Elixir. The lung energy as water or metal then helps to sink the wood that normally would rise up. In alchemy the elements have to be reversed.
So then as the yuan qi is stored in the lower tan tien - then you rotate the eyes again to bring the energy back up and back down via the shen. So the pineal gland is connected to the lower tan tien directly through the central channel - this is felt by rolling the eyes. Science recognizes this role of the pineal gland via biophotonic signals. So again the left eye is Hun soul while the eyes are open but Yang shen when the eyes are closed so positive fire as yang qi and yang shen then DESCENDS back down to the lower tan tien.
By rotating the eyes then the shen combines between yang and yin shen (left and right eyes) and yin and yang qi (left and right eyes) - to then create more Yuan Qi. That is what the quote above from TAoist Yoga tells you specifically about the Pineal Gland - it's role is to CREATE MORE YUAN QI!!
Then yuan qi is STORED in the lower tan tien and when then lower tan tien is filled - then the middle tan tien opens up which then causes the Yuan Qi to rise up to the pineal gland. So that is the First half of immortality - as then you see light externally as the Absolute Void via the Yang Shen.
But to keep storing up yuan Qi then you need to rotate the eyes so that the Shen burns up and purifies the yin qi and yang qi. So the yin qi is a red light shen lower frequency blockage. The yang qi is blue light from the future - so you are absorbing yuan qi from the future and it emits blue light in the process. This is precisely how we see the color gold - it is proven in relativistic quantum physics as blue light being absorbed FROM THE FUTURE as quantum spin (the 5th dimension). So that causes the red, yellow and green light to combine to be seen as gold. In other words NEW matter is being created as Yuan Jing.
So the Green Dragon and the White Tiger then descend back down the front to be stored in the lower tan tien via the Yellow light - of the Yuan Shen - so that is the storage of the Golden Pill or Golden Elixir to keep building up yuan qi energy. It has to be stored in "cold storage" - deep in the lower tan tien which is the small intestines - having more neurons than the heart.
