Shiitake News! the shroom expert has told me to NOT "force" a fruiting this year.

The logs need to wait till next spring to keep growing the mycelium - as is the standard norm.

That is good advice but typically logs will fruit naturally before the ends brown. Knowing Dr Cunningham, he probably put that out there to prevent growers from forcing too early.

Hi Joe: those birch logs filled with white on end - seems like I could try shocking them - soaking for 24 hours to fruit - when the temp gets close to freezing at night, in a couple weeks?
