Are divine prophecies mechanical results like a musical instrument being played by God? Montanist Lyre heresy

The resulting explanation described them as being like a musical instrument upon which the Spirit played a tune. This mechanical theory of inspiration was greatly advanced by the Montanist heresy, for they claimed that same kind of inspiration for themselves in their utterances. The prophet was supposedly lifted up out of himself so that he became a merely unconscious instrument in the hands of the Holy Spirit....

Strange to think of music as being mechanical - yet that is precisely the great problem in Western music - a focus on "technical skill" without true inspiration...

"mechanical error" refers to the Montanist view of the prophetic trance, where the prophet allegedly surrendered all personal control, becoming a passive instrument—like a "lyre" played by a "plectrum"—rather than an active, conscious messenger....

That's still the Liar of the Lyre as I have exposed!!

The Lyre Metaphor: Founder Montanus described the phenomenon by stating, "Lo, the man is as a lyre, and I fly over him as a pick. The man sleepeth, while I watch."

The prophet Montanus described this as being like a lyre being played by a divine plectrum. Orthodox critics of the early church argued that this trance-like state was far closer to the ecstatic, divinatory practices of paganism (such as the cult of Apollo) than to orthodox Christian revelation.

Montanists were based on Turkey - which is also where Pythagorean philosophy was based....

The New Prophecy originated in the Phrygian hinterland sometime in the middle or second
half of the 160s CE; another possible, but less likely, date of origin is around 172 CE.1 Thus, this study presupposes that the Phrygian prophetic movement emerged under the reign of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (161–180 CE), that is, when a pandemic, the so-called Antonine Plague or Plague of Galen, raged from 165 CE onwards, at first from 165 to 168 CE, then flaring up again and again, e.g., in 189/190 CE and still in the 230s (see below).
The two events – the emergence of a prophetic movement rapidly spreading across
the Roman empire and a pandemic raging through the same empire at the same time,
harvesting a high death toll – have scarcely been correlated.

Tertullian and Irenaeus clashed even though Tertullian was the first to coin the trinity concept. Pretty fascinating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGEhPCAi4oo&t=483 Tertullian was relying on NeoPythagorean philosophy...  "the two-stage Logos theory."... Tertullian converted to the "new prophet" Montanists movement but there was also a plague ravaging at the time... Logion 13 is an authentic oracle by Priscilla: Purity brings about harmony, and they see visions (visiones vident) and, turning their faces downwards (ponentes faciem deorsum), also hear clear sayings, as salutary/healing as they also are mysterious (voces audiunt manifestas tam salutares quam et occultas; in Tertullian, Exh. cast. 10.5). Did the charismatics in the Priscilla logion also inhale something as it was related, e.g., about the Delphic Pythia...required fasting for three days before having visions....leading a celibate life (non enim accepi uxorem) without alcohol consumption (non bibens vinum) .... https://archiv.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/volltextserver/36293/1/Lampe_InBuch_Montanism_Roman_world_2024.pdf
According to the logion, the “Holy Spirit” foresees “worldly plagues” (ex providentia imminentium … mundialium plagarum) and issues warnings, mandating – “as remedies” (remedia) (sic!) – “certain
obligations”, for example the “discipline of sobriety and abstinence” (sobrietatis et abstinentiae disciplinam)"...Tertullian (Or. 18)
mentions fasting Christians who “withhold the kiss of peace after prayer”, although it is “the seal of prayer”. Were there also medical reasons behind this social-distancing behaviour?
Fascinating! "The experience of the devastating Antonine Plague may well have helped to rekindle
the fire of early Christian charismatic religiosity (cf. 1 Cor 12; 14) by sparking “new” ecstatic
prophetism, with an expectation of a near end of the world, an allegedly health-beneficial
asceticism, and predictions of not only further disasters but also imminent salvation in a
heavenly Jerusalem (logion 2); even the ordinary believers will shine brighter than the moon
(logion 7)"

Rabbi Tovia Singer emphasizes that Judaism is a Nationalist religion a "national revelation" as its unique founding

"The Jew traces himself back to the event itself....the Jews are unique because they trace back to the event itself..."

Rabbi Tovia Singer says - most people are deluded by the Torah says miracles can happen...

But the Messiah predicted in the Torah have NOT come true and therefore Jesus was not the Messiah...

 Awkward! hahahaha.
