From a 2015 Amazon review of a different composter: "The construction is nowhere near as sturdy as the interlocking system of my Scepter Gourmet Garden composter... Scepter was either out of stock or no longer available"
Features a patented venting system to enhance the decomposition process
Here it is on Amazon! Scepter - unavailable -
Yeah there are other 80 gallon composters now sold for around $60 but they look flimsy in comparison - this has very thick plastic. for example:
Plastic is super flimsy. Base level door does not stay on. Lid unlatches itself....Once it was over half full, the pressure of the material inside pops the joints at one corner. I wrestled it closed and duct taped & bungeed it, but didn’t hold. Small access door also pops open.
OK here is a sturdy 80 gallon Free Earth garden composter and it sells for $120 (also sold as the earlier model called the Earth Machine) or you could just get 3 trash cans that are 30 gallons each - and put aeration holes in - and just transfer the compost from one to the other to aerate it. Apparently that Earth Machine design doesn't get enough air but I think the Scepter design does!! Wow that Earth Machine was also originally made in Canada! Yep Norseman Plastics of Toronto Ontario Canada. Earth Machine specs pdf Now it's made by Orbis Oconomowoc, Wisconsin....
ORBIS Corporation has acquired Norseman Plastics Holdings, Ltd.
Looks like when Orbis acquired Norseman then Orbis stopped making the Earthmachine - since it sells new for $189 via the Orbis link to "farmdaddy." Meanwhile the Canadian Norseman has the SAME design sold by the Canadian "Free Earth Garden" composter.... So are they leasing the patent? I emailed them!
Two were offered and one was there when I got there - and I only had room for one so it worked out!
Made of recycled black plastic
It sells for $105 new (out of stock from Ontario Canada) and someone is selling it $75 used.
includes an easy access lid that snaps shut to keep it secure, and a sliding bottom door to make it easy to remove the finished product. Assembly is simple and requires no tools.
Located in Ontario Canada, Scepter manufactures Do-It-Yourself and eco-friendly products to help make home, lawn and garden projects easier.
Doubllok Construction System
I've looked at a ton of composters online today and this is the NICEST one I've found and yet I got it for free - minus the gas money...
416-751-9445 is the contact number in the manual and is the current Scepter phone number in Toronto Ontario Canada!
Wow I thought that was a typo - Doubllok!!
Wow you can also expand the size by adding another 1.7 cubic feet. Yeah that "garden gourmet expansion kit" is not listed online accept in this manual. So I guess this Scepter Compost is no longer produced! Pretty wild.
This is thick high quality recycled HDPE - it is UV-resistant and rot proof - and rust proof - so exciting.
It's big enough to achieve thermal mass for thermophilic composting! People complained the 65 gallon composter (sold locally in the Big Box store) is not big enough to achieve thermal mass! So I lucked out indeed.

Wow Scepter made Hula Hoops!!
Scepter was acquired by Myers Industries of Akron, Ohio in 2014.
Wow I bet that's when they stopped making this composter! Fascinating.
The Garden Gourmet Composting Assembly Video is on youtube!
Airflow can be controlled by adjusting the size of the vents - you're supposed to cut out the vent plastic to increase air flow...
the defunct website composter dot com used to sell this composter
