I was just reading "Awakening to Reality" yesterday and discussing the Yuan Shen... as connected to the "innate nature" or Xing from the yang qi of the lung energy - the "Po Soul." In other words the Yuan Shen is Pure Yin to the yang qi.

At that time, the radiance of Yang emerges from its lair, as strong as a male tiger. Its might cannot be restrained. So innate nature is "yin qi" as liver wood and while emotions is "yang qi" as metal lung energy so then the "true nature" is the Yuan Qi.

Hence the difference between Xing (innate nature) in Confucianism and Daoism.

So when metal (4) and water (1) are added they also have to "mix" with wood (3) and fire (2). The fire is the yuan shen that then manifests from the fire being under the water. So it's an octave subharmonic as 1/2 the frequency to create the Perfect Fourth as 4/3.

Thereby "True" Yin and "True" Yang emerge as Wuji or the Womb of the Mysterious Female. The Yi or Intention is another number 5 on its own - and so can be considered the internal eternal listening process.

The Wu soil is Yang and the Ji soil is yin and combined or meditated together they are sincere virtue as Yi also called the Mysterious Female.

So as the Female Dragon the emotions as metal (yang qi as 4) with the Yuan shen (yin shen fire as 2) have to combine with the nature as wood (yin qi 3) with the 1 as yang jing (water).

Visually, the frequency and amplitude changes but the EAR hears no difference - both phases are the Perfect Fifth just inverted as undivided yin-yang (the Taiji). Why? Because 3/4 is the reverse direction in time - so that now the "3" is the denominator as a new root tonic. And so the harmonic series assumes this is a logarithmic equation as a ratio that can be inverted - but you can not evenly divide the octave and the Perfect Fifth since 2 does not go into 3 evenly. So this means that 3/4 is actually C to F while C to G is 3/2 and the C to F was derived from doubling 2/3. So this is called the "phantom tonic" in music theory and reveals the noncommutative phase origin of the music harmonics - as Alain Connes recognizes. Let us draw up a fundamental vibration with its first and second harmonic overtones [1:2 and 2:3]….if we then shift the phase relationship, we get a totally different course of the combined curve; that is, of the pressure course [amplitude and frequency] which is apparently effective in the final analysis. When looking at both curves, one might suppose that in the two cases we should hear two sounds that are just as different. But in fact our ear does not notice any difference. biophysicist Vitus B. Anyone who actually knows how to play music would not fall for this bait and switch! What is (7, 5)? It is a Perfect Fourth which is the PITCH of C to G! "The term subcontrary may refer to the fact that a tone based on this mean reverses the order of the two fundamental musical intervals in a scale. The occurrence of a mathematical term here is unexpected. It has been treated as an unimportant anomaly but in fact it is the key to the entire fragment....The word magnitude normally refers to physical size, but here it is given a new application, extending the notion of magnitude to include musical intervals." Or as Professor Borzacchini states: " These remarks raise the question of the difference between the ancient Pythagorean ‘musical’ perception as displayed in the Pythagorean idea of ‘linear number’ in Boethius [Philolaus] or in Nicomachus, and the modern ‘geometrical’ perception of the linear numerical magnitudes."
