Last year I got Pomoly tipi tents and I have two of them set up - to use one as a "shower" and the other for my "outhouse" SHELTER (not structure). The problem with those "two person" tents is that I can barely stand up in the center by the tipi pole - and the tipi sides still hang in close. It's a tight fit - as I did not get the 3 to 4 person size....
So I got this HUGE light-weight nylon tent from One Tigris that has stove jack holes. I plan to use the SIDE stove jack hole so that I do not burn any holes in the tent.
Large Camping Tent: Measures at 12.5ft *6.6ft *6.2ft (380cm *200cm *190cm) to fit all standard sized hammocks, can also be used as a frame tent with your own poles or sticks, plenty of room for 2 camping cots
So it is a "cabin" style tent that is over 6 feet tall. YES - I can stand up. The only challenge is that anywhere I camp then I need to also harvest the tent poles from sticks or small trees... oops....
I just "unboxed" or took it out of the bag - just to make sure it did have the Stove Jacks. These stove jacks are supposedly BETTER than the Pomoly stovejacks (that melted and began to burn from the stove pipe).... Still I do have a "silicone" cooking mat to use to buffer the stove pipe. I just need to get an "elbow" for my small portable tent stove.... so I can make sure to use the SIDE stove jack. Otherwise it would be too easy to burn a hole in this nylon tent....
Weighs only 6.8Ib
So the goal here is to have a tent that ideally can be used via a BICYCLE in case I ever do not have access to a car but LEGALLY need to move my tent to other land so that I can LEGALLY keep camping all year round.... So the necessity for a LARGE yet light weight WINTER tent was imperative.
There was controversy over this tent as the person who "designed" it then had a confrontation about his contract and the contract was nullified. But in fact this "design" was actually originally from a person in New York - over ten years ago I think I documented the original designer.
It was cheapest to order directly from the company with a 10% discount - so that's how I ordered it.
The challenge then was if I take it out of the factory bag - to look at it - will I be able to get it back inside? Let's see.
Out of bag - on the floor. One stove jack.
My hand is OVER six feet high and bottom of tent is on the ground - so that's how tall the tent is.
Bottom of tent on ground as my hand is up high over six feet.
And BOOM - back into the bag! Of course I had no idea how to "fold it" as it came out of the factory. So I just folded it in half and then began rolling it and rolled it tight and then folded it in half again after I rolled it. Amazingly I got it back in the bag and barely got it zippered shut.
So how are the guy lines used?
Here is someone on vid - setting it up
But here is the "original" design from way back by a camper in New York....
OK my whole "hot tent" playlist
And the particular vid?
