30 Years Ago: The Jesus and Mary Chain Dish Out 'Psychocandy' Where punk rock and rockabilly cranked up the '50s, music during the mid-'80s recast the '60s.
So when I was in high school I was a secret Retro-60s geek. My best friend for a couple years around 8 to 10 years old had ALL the Beatles albums. My first record I ever bought was "Sargent Peppers"....
For the past ten years there has been a big Retro-80s scene - with Atari and now Karate Kid (remade into Cobra Kai).
I'm watching Cobra Kai and it's full of Retro-80s references as the movie Karate Kid itself was a big hit of the 1980s.
What I have noticed though is that the 1960s retro movement of the 1980s is also bleeding into the Retro-80s movement also.
I had a neighbor across the street who was a karate student. I just remember that now as I type. "Kevin Anderson" - I wonder what happened to him.

Here he is! I recognize him. He moved away so I never really got to know him and he was also quite a bit older.
Also my cousin trained in karate but it was actually kung fu from Shaolin. One of his classmates also does qigong.
What's funny is that the Cobra Kai has to rent out the studio to a Yoga class - and they use Anuradha Paudwal for their class song!! haha. I used to have that CD.
