Basic Qi = Yuan (original) Qi: Reviewing Neidan Alchemy analysis

I've just been reading the foot notes of this thesis. It does not allow copy of the text. So I can not repost any quotes.

I would have to transcribe them.

The three forms of medicine, the three jewels, or the three primes, became equated with essence (jing), qi, and spirit (shen) all of which are permutations of basic qi, each one being in a more rarefied and therefore more celestial or holy state.

I first discovered this from Dr. John Beaulieu in his book - that I read in 1996. I cite it in my 2000 master's thesis, plus I cite a book from the 1930s. There are a few other sources that I have since cited also.

So the secret is that with music, the ear hears the Perfect Fifth as the same even though the geometry is different. So 4/3 is actually derived from 2/3 being doubled with 2/3 as C to F subharmonic geometry as a Perfect Fifth while 4/3 is yin as a Perfect Fourth, C to F (it's not a natural harmonic in the same octave though).

So what is happening is that the "one" changes when the F is doubled as the octave, becoming the new "one." This process continues.

So then the yin right hand against the yang upper body - this is not tied to the music ratios directly. John Beaulieu does point out a 2/3 ratio for the navel to the sacrum , I think. I quote the details in my 2000 master's thesis, "Epicenters of Justice."

So the white tiger also goes up the spine - the hands are doing the microcosmic orbit.

At first when you start out you hold the right hand facing the upper body and left hand facing the lower body - for a few minutes. This is also called the Wuji position in Taiji.

So the lungs brings down the yin - while the yang hand is pulling up the back from the lower body yin - so pulling up the yin qi.

I guess I never thought of how the transformation occurs. Good question. The lungs as tiger are technically "west" in alchemy while the lower body is north and upper body is south and liver as dragon is "east."

But there is a transformation of blood into cerebrospinal fluid which then goes down the front - as the blood goes up the back. The pineal gland turns blood into cerebrospinal fluid that the flows out of the sinus cavity of the skull into the mouth - after it is ionized via the pineal gland.

So the heart as shen turned back into the Emptiness is what then creates the Yuan Qi via purification of the yin and yang qi. So you have yin jing and yang jing and yin qi and yang qi but they are intermingled into each other as dragon and tiger or lead and mercury.

So as the left hand goes up then it switches from the back to the front while the right hand switches from the front to the back.
So then the left hand as dragon yang is now pulling down the white tiger yin qi, down the front.
So there is a reversal of roles.

This is what is called the Reverted Elixir or Double Reversal - as in a dialectical reversal.
In other words it's not just upper and lower with right and left but also internal and external and front and back. Sorry that all the details are not clear, but this is why alchemy is very confusing to study. In western science terms it's the equivalent of relativistic quantum biology.

Yes when you say a "second order beating" this is what is being referred to. In music theory, as I discuss in my master's thesis, this is called the "Paradox of the Poles." For example the Tritone is very dissonant but its overtones are Perfect Fifth and Perfect Fourth.

So then what is happening is that the yin qi is being converted into yang qi but the Yang as the PErfect Fifth is also the Yuan Qi as being Non-dual or "not-two" or "three in one" unity. So that means it is the source of the Yin as 2/3 or C to F subharmonic while at the same time being 3/2 as C to G overtone harmonic. Since this can not be "contained" in geometry then it is called "noncommutative phase" in Western math, as Alain Connes explains. So he calls it, "2, 3, infinity." Or I call it, "No One is Listening." Or as the Pythagoreans stated, "one is not a number." So the frequency of light being turned around is then the Shen of No Shen or Yuan Shen. This means that the mind of the spiritual ego is then able to resonate back with its Emptiness source, the spacetime or Yuan Qi energy-information as the 5th dimension that can not be seen.

The lungs correspond to metal. Metal originally sinks. On account of what is it yet able to float? The liver corresponds to wood. Wood originally floats. On account of what is it yet able to sink?...

The lungs being caused to receive qi have yi wood located within and so it floats. The liver being caused to receive qi has geng metal located within and so it sinks.
So then it is explained through hexagrams. p. 69...

metal turns into Kan when it produces water in the north. Within Kan there is true fire that floats. Zhen as wood hexagram with the solid lower lines produces the fire of the south as Li, that floats. The true water within Li causes it to sink.
Medicinally Lead as Metal sinks but then manifesting fire is then floats.
Mercury associated with wood floats but then manifesting water it then sinks.
