Why Canvas Petroleum Spirits (Naphtha) actually smells good: Benzaldehyde is added for pliability

Benzaldehyde: bitter almonds, just that, bitter almonds, odour strength is enormous.
I like the smell even though it is still toxic and causes dizziness and headache in strong dose...

benzaldehyde is important as an ingredient in synthetic cherry flavorings:
Nice to know people are being fed straight up petroleum toxic carcinogens just because they smell/taste like cherries or almonds!

So it turns out Napthene is the main ingredient of Naphtha - the solvent oil used for paraffin water proofing of canvas....

So maybe benzene and cyanide are similar? That almond smell? Smells nice but kills....

Check the label on a bottle of almond extract and you will find benzaldehyde
So today I cooked up one of my "creations" with fair trade organic chocolate and a STRONG dose of almond extract....

Then I tied up the tarp loosely - I got a nice billowing sail effect - and the F150 behind me was scared. haha. He gave me those evil dagger eyes as he passed by me. Then the tarp grommets started banging against the roof with a fluttering and a flapping. I had to pull over half a dozen times to "adjust" the tarp. I had used my chaos approach. So when I finally got home then I switched to a rope through every grommet approach and nicely cinched the tarp up against the car....

The smell is more than 50% gone now though!! So my "fan" evaporation experiment is working!!

Best options are charcoal, white vinegar, baking soda or some type of odor remover

ARTIFICIAL ALMOND OIL; BENZENECARBONAL; BENZENECARBOXALDEHYDE; BENZOIC ALDEHYDE; PHENYLFORMALDEHYDE; PHENYLMETHANOL ALDEHYDE; ALMOND ARTIFICIAL ESSENTIAL OIL; ARTIFICIAL ALMOND OIL; ARTIFICIAL ESSENTIAL OIL OF ALMOND; BENZALDEHYDE FFC; BENZENE CARBALDEHYDE
So benzladehyde is used in paraffin and naphtha - for pliability and color retention

Laboratory analysis found various solvents including 2-methyl pentane, hexane, methyl cyclopentane, heptane, cyclohexane and toluene which were present in the liquid naphtha.
So what is Naphtha REALLY?
