- 0.65 Quart Capacity
- 35 Watts of Power
- Ceramic cavity
- Stainless steel wrap and plastic lid
I put it outside, plugged it into the Chafon generator, and put in a chunk of cheese wax (that I will use to cover up the mushroom spawn holes in the trees)...
Then I went to do an hour of full lotus meditation (small universe).
It was just under 50 degrees Fahrenheit - which is what the temp will be on the land up north when I inoculate the hardwood logs with the mushroom spawn.
Sure enough - the cheese wax was all melted!!
So
It looks pretty much like this - only I don't have a lid - so I'm just using aluminum foil over the top.
That does not "insulate" but does "reflect" - and since it's low heat - it should be o.k.
So then - the key is that the wax should not be smoking - and the smoke point is I think 350 degrees or maybe 400 - anyway since this is a cheese dip warmer, then I don't have to worry about the wax getting too hot.
So I thought - well I could just use a wood stove to melt the wax but to maintain a consistent heat while also drilling and filling the trees with the mushroom spawn? NO that would not be so easy. No point in taking the chance of all the trouble that might cause.
But on the other if the mini dip was not hot enough - then I would be in trouble again.
THEREFORE BIG SUCCESS.
So this was the perfect find at Goodwill.
I guess since it's "vintage" - then someone thinks they can get $36 dollars for it! I paid around $5.
But again I did not have a lid, nor vintage packing.
yep it's the same - 35 watts.
So the generator lost about 20% of power in 1 hour - so 3 amps - that's about 60 amps at 120 volts - so I'm not doing the math correctly I guess. Anyway there is loss of power in converting to AC from DC.
So I can just hook up the solar panels to the generator while I am running the warmer - hopefully if there is sun out.
And if I recharge the generator in the car then I get a 6 amp recharge rate.
Otherwise there is the bicycle - at a 4 amp recharge rate.
Still when I checked - the wax was still melted - even though it had been unplugged for a half hour.
So it holds heat well enough.
Maybe I should try the drill bit out with the drill in our woods - on some old wood.
That can be my next "experiment" - as a trial run.
