Everybody Can Hum as Music in Antiquity: On Jonathan Goldman's Humming Effect sound healing book - my letter to Jonathan Goldman (via Dr. Anne Kilmer)

Dear Jonathan Goldman: Thank you for your recent Humming Effect book. I did my master's degree in music theory and sound-current nondualism and radical ecology (University of Minnesota, 2000). I had studied music intensely via piano lessons from an early age and then music theory, studying privately with a former University professor. So I realized that Pythagorean tuning as an infinite healing resonance had to be the truth of the universe (and not the equal-tempered logarithmic "containment" of infinity as geometry). So then I finished my degree by doing intensive meditation via qigong master spiritual healer Chunyi Lin of http://springforestqigong.com

So that was a transformative deep psychophysiological re-wiring and so then I read one scholarly book a day for 10 years to try to "convert" my experience back into Western science. I had discovered John Beaulieu's biosonics book back in 1996 and so I realized that the Daoist philosophy was also from nonwestern Pythagorean music theory. That is why I had done the meditation to test to see if alchemy was real - and it is!! So there is the "small universe" meditation and the traditional training has 12 harmonic nodes along the body - the book Taoist Yoga: Alchemy and Immortality gives the details. The book by Wang Mu, "Foundations of Internal Alchemy" with translation commentary by Pregadio - this confirms that indeed the 12 "nodes" of the body-mind are directly from music theory.

So then I realized that the oldest philosophy of India, the three gunas, is also based on this same secret of the Octave-Perfect Fifth/Fourth from before Western logarithmic equal-tempered tuning. And India also has a similar "small universe" meditation found in Kriya Yoga - just as the Pythagoreans also had a "circulation" of energy based on the 12 zodiacs as going around the body. So it appears there was a Bronze age meditation common to West Asia, India and China - based on this music tuning secret. I have corresponded with Dr. Beaulieu about his "Perfect Fifth" alchemy music article for the Rosicrucians and I also corresponded with Dr. John Curtis Franklin, a music theorist philosopher who translates any texts of Greek and cunieform, etc. So he has a recent book on Sumerian harmonics that confirms this common connection of music as a healing meditation practice.

OK so the "noncommutative phase" secret then is a logical insight that I had been calling "complementary opposite ratios." In music theory this is what is called the Perfect Fourth as the "Phantom Tonic" since it has a different denominator than the root tonic as the "one" for the overtone series. So this is typically "covered up" by music theorists but I also corresponded with math professor Luigi Borzacchini about how music theory is actually the origin of Western math. He calls this a "deep pre-established disharmony" that is the "guiding evolutive principle" of western science. So in other words by the age of 14, when our brains are still being hard-wired, we are lied to about the truth of reality, through the geometric continuum philosophy as based on the wrong music theory!

Professor Richard McKirahan has recently documented that Philolaus did introduce the use of the mathematical term for geometric magnitude into music number ratio theory. But Philolaus also "flipped" his lyre around to create a double octave system that uses two different values for the root tonic! One value is "0 to 8" and the other value from the other direction is "12 to 6" as the octave for geometric magnitude. This then was able to cover up the noncommutative phase truth of reality in order to "contain" infinity as geometric magnitude so that 12/8 as 3/2 plus 8/6 as 4/3 = 2 as the FIRST logarithmic equation creating the Greek Miracle for symmetric irrational magnitude geometry.

From the Ancient Music Theory book:

That the seven Mesopotamian musical scales (at least as early as ca. 1800 󰁢󰁣󰁥) were heptatonic-diatonic scales has been proven to the satisfaction of cuneiformists and musicologists alike. It should be noted here that, thanks to the observations of Wulstan (1968) and Kümmel (1970), it was recognized that the ancient Mesopotamian musicians/“musicologists” knew what we call today the Pythagorean series of fifths, and that the series could be accomplished within a single octave by means of “inversion.” Kümmel taught us that the names given to the seven tunings/scales were derived from the specific intervals on which the tuning procedure started. For example, if the tuning procedure started with the interval išartu ‘normal’, the resulting scale was called išartu.
However, the change in our recognizing of the scales as moving downward rather than upward means that išartu 2–6 was no longer string 2 (RE) up to string 6 (LA), but rather 2–6 as 2 (TI) down to 6 (MI). As Crocker (1997: 195) empha-sized, “The principal difference brought about by Krispijn’s restoration (of nu-su-h [u-um]) is that the seven octave segments (or intervals) receive different names” (than those they bore earlier). Thus, nīd qabli “fall from the middle” was, before Krispijn (1990), the scale from C-C (ascending). After 1990, it is E-E (descending). As a result, all the pre-1990 ancient Near Eastern music texts (e.g., the Hurrian hymn) could now be revised using descending scales (see West 1993–1994; Hagel 2005; Dumbrill 2005; Colburn 2009).

So this subtle "bait and switch" as I call it, this is something that no one even notices since it is so deeply embedded in our Greek Miracle origins of Western science. But recently the Duke neuroscientist Purves, author of the 2017 book "Biology of Music," - he gave an academic seminar lecture at UC-Merced, posted on youtube. He is challenged that his view of the musical modes as a universal emotional meaning from language conveying "sad" (minor) and "happy" (major) and angry-scary - (diminished) - his view that this was biological, was challenged based on the Harmonic Series! Another professor (seemingly) argued that since the 12 tones of the scale for the modes can be derived from the Harmonic Series as the Perfect Fifth circle, therefore the emotional meaning of language was actually a "universal" origin from physics (and not biology).

So I contacted Purves to explain to him that actually he was correct since a deeply held secret of music theory is that the Harmonic Series can not derive the Perfect Fourth since it has a different root tonic origin from the Overtone series. The Harmonic Series already assumes the wrong symmetric magnitude math. Then I informed him that Fields Medal math professor Alain Connes has a lecture on youtube whereby he derives a unified field theory from this noncommutative phase secret of music theory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIziuv-WLMM&t=1835s

So I had first read Connes back around 2004 and at first I was not sure if he meant music was a metaphor or not. But Connes stated music theory provided the "formal language" for his unified field mathematical physics as noncommutative geometry. Then when that music theory lecture was posted, that finally corroborated that what I had been calling "complementary opposite ratios" was indeed this noncommutative phase secret of logic. So then I realized someone else MUST have made the same connection as I did, to the nonwestern philosphy of meditation as healing energy. So I kept digging online and finally I discovered Eddie Oshins, a quantum physicist working at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Oshins was tasked with studying what he dubbed as "quantum psychology" and he also taught Wing Chun, the martial arts lineage of Bruce Lee. So Oshins realized that the noncommutative phase logic was also the secret of a body-mind harmonization training that enabled alchemy energy as Neigong.

So finally my research had come full circle - after THIRTY years!! So this is a simple yet very radical concept. For example by training in the "Moving of Yin and Yang" exercise (found on youtube) - for males the right hand is yin and the lower body is yin while the upper body is yang and the left hand is yang. So by simply facing your right palm toward your upper body and your left palm toward your lower body, based on the noncommutative phase secret of reality - this turns your body-mind into a free harmonic energy generator! So then I corresponded with Nobel physics professor Brian Josephson. At first he said he didn't know enough about music theory to comment. But he did ask me what I thought of his music compositions!

Then as we corresponded me, he decided that I did not know music theory well enough but he stated he did practice qigong meditation with a colleague at Cambridge University. But now Professor emeritus Josephson has been giving lectures on this "symmetry breaking" secret of music theory as the secret of acoustics explaining the foundation of reality. So in his Nobel Prize lecture he points out that for the Josephson Effect origin of charge, there has to first by a symmetry breaking in Nature. He can not measure that directly but by creating a thin insulator between two superconductors, then this natural symmetry breaking then creates a free energy flow as the origin of charge. This is the proton-proton spin that then enables fMRI machines to work and for NIST to measure the origin of the "volt" they use a series of Josephson Junctions.

Sumerian Drinking Song circa 1400 BCE

I wrote this song with Anne Kilmer, who was a longtime professor of Assyriology from UC Berkeley, who studied ancient near eastern cultures. She is known to ethnomusicologists for translating cuneiform tablets of the oldest written song known to date, the Hurrian Cult Song ca 1400BCE. So, perhaps not an ethnomusicologist, but I feel I had a wonderful consultant, considering that many ethnomusicologists have contacted Dr. Kilmer for her ideas about ancient near eastern music in the past.
This song was indeed composed in an ancient scale. It was fascinating for me to learn from Dr. Kilmer that the ancient scales (during 1400BCE at least) were 7 tone scales with 7 modes. These modes are the same as modes used in diatonic music by many modern musicians today though we call them Ionian, Dorian, Mixolydian, etc. I can send you more information on this if you wish.

So now as I'm sure you know Professor Josephson is promoting cymatics as acoustic music theory that reveals the origin of reality, as a self-organizing, self-healing resonance. This is what I have called the Natural Resonance Revolution. So I also have corresponded with quantum physics philosopher of science Dr. Ruth E. Kastner who had written on Louis de Broglie's Law of Phase Harmony. Professor Josephson had previously also promoted this model of reality and I have corresponded with Professor Hiley: Basil J. Hiley, the collaborator with Professor David Bohm who also corroborated the de Broglie model of reality. So Hiley then updated de Broglie's model as based on noncommutative phase logic and Hiley did confirm to me that he understood how time-frequency energy is noncommutative. And so as Dr. Kastner points out, what science measures as "spacetime" based on the symmetric commutative math, is, in fact, a cognitive bias of what always already is this non-local time-frequency resonance.

In another document from Mari Ninigizibara is said to have been deco-rated with silver and gold.󰀹󰀵 This goddess is finally referred to in first-millennium god lists as a gu4-balaĝ “bull-balaĝ” of Inana.󰀹󰀶The second famous Balaĝ-god to be presented here is known only from the third millennium. Its construction and dedication is documented for Gudea’s third regnal year:
Lagash: Gudea, year 3Year: The Balaĝ Ušumgalkalama was fashioned.󰀹󰀷
Ušumgalkalama, literally the “Great Dragon of the Land,” was associated with the god Ninĝirsu and is referred to in Gudea’s expanded temple-building hymns.󰀹󰀸 Offerings for this same Balaĝ are registered in an Ur III document from the time of Šulgi, where it received beer, bread and oil rations.󰀹󰀹

So then we get into the quantum biology aspects of this, something that Daoist biologist Dr. Mae-Wan Ho investigated, corroborating the discovery of Dr. Andrija Puharich, regarding our inner ear listening resonance as being non-local quantum relativistic energy. This is based on the magnetic moment spin again, and so then Dr. Stuart Hameroff working with Sir Roger Penrose also made this same realization. So I corresponded with Dr. Hameroff and his collaborator in Japan Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay who empirically verified that ultrasound is the strongest amplification of the microtubules of the body-mind. So from studying tinnitus research I confirmed that the highest pitch we hear externally, when turned internally, then resonates the whole brain as ultrasound. This is called the HyperSonic Effect in music studies, as you would know. So that increases the alpha brain waves due to a subharmonic reverse time or noncommutative phase resonance in the ELF frequency.

But the key point here is that there is no original "frequency" since the concept of frequency itself already assumes the wrong symmetric irrational magnitude math from Philolaus and Archytas and promoted by Plato! So we can see how DEEPLY interwoven this "cognitive bias" is to Western civilization. That's why my master's thesis was also on "radical ecology" since even "entropy" assumes a left-brain dominance bias for perception. As you know music frequency perception is right brain bias and the left brain vagus nerve does NOT connect to the right side of the brain! So I will spare you the various psychophysiological details but you can find all my research for free on my blog http://elixirfield.blogspot.com and my previous blog http://ecoechoinvasives.blogspot.com

Thanks for your time and I would appreciate hearing any feedback, comments or questions, etc.

yes from meditation experience I have come to DEPEND on the Cosmic Mother. haha. Literally if I want to "solve" a problem - I know that if I "sleep" on it - then the Cosmic Mother will provide the answer. Books are a tool. I've had some definite synchronicities with books. One time soon after my Emptiness experience I desperately wanted to know what caused this literal spacetime vortex! I had experienced the room spinning but it was NOT from just being drunk or dizzy - it was a literal spacetime vortex. I went to my favorite bookstore - the Bookhouse - with piles of books in the basement of the house. I saw a book on - what was his name? Oh yes I rely on full lotus to keep my mind "working" - and I was not in full lotus. Anyway so I pull this book off about someone I had never read before. But he was a yogi guru - and I just "randy-Om-ly" opened the book. The FIRST thing I read was a student asking about this spinning phenomenon. And his answer was: OH that's just the Cosmic Shakti descending. I thought - COOL but I still was not satisfied.

So I kept searching and it turns out - I did find http://peterkingsley.org - I think his book "IN the Dark Places of Wisdom" - it is also about the Cosmic Mother from Pythagorean philosophy and he also describes this spinning secret as a spacetime vortex. But that STILL did not satisfy me. So then I discovered Robert - not Monroe - but another one of those OBE teachers. Waggoner I think. Robert Waggoner - and his book described the same spinning phenomenon when the OBE occurred. Now I was getting closer but STILL not there yet. FINALLY I realized the answer was in the book I had started out with but the Western Daoist forum had told me NOT to read this book since it is too DANGEROUS!!

So the answer was in Chapter 11 of Taoist Yoga: Alchemy and Immortality. The book states if you don't have enough "Yuan Qi" to surround your spirit when the spirit leaves the body - then it creates dizziness and confusion. So I compare this as the difference between special relativity and general relativity. Even the qigong master http://springforestqigong.com said one time he had done TOO much healing and so he got that dizziness. So he had to have his senior students teach his Level 3 class so he could meditate to recharge his energy better.
