I just did a new blog post on the chibanian hominin fossils - the Balkans were the key land bridge of Neanderthals going east and ancient archaic humans going into Europe. So that means Neanderthals did have more interbreeding with ancient humans than we realize. And the "ghost" archaic homo sapiens split with modern humans occurred before the Neanderthal split with modern humans - so basically when we go back that far - 225,000 years ago - it's all just one big Hominin hodgepodge. I'm not sure why the "Middle Pleistocene" got renamed the Chibanian in 2020 by science - the international geological society or something - and it's based on sediments in Japan - anyway.....
This is a fascinating read on the Balkans as a crucial land bridge into Asia...
So it represents a transition from Neanderthals to Sapiens
So this morphology confirmed the DNA evidence for Neanderthal interbreeding with Sapiens.
An Undifferentiated Chibanian Group of Hominins!
