The problem with ALL “fast-carbs” is that they trigger GLP-1 (a glucagon-like peptide), which triggers insulin-ONLY release. Insulin sends it [the carb] directly to fat cells, primed by cortisol and excess omega 6…where it is gobbled up and stored…as fat. They call this “de novo lipogenesis”…and it bulges the “visceral” area-this sort of fat then releases fats into the blood-stream (bad omen). The most insidious is C16 (Palmitic Acid)…which apparently triggers cancer metastasis (proliferation and migration of cancer cells).
Meanwhile…back at the ranch, once ALL the sugars get sucked into your gut-fat-bank vault…blood-sugar CRASHES…triggering more SUGAR-CRAVINGS (repeat cycle and gain weight).
Artificial sweeteners are even WORSE…by triggering a “dry-release” of insulin…so the crash is WORSE.
Now, if you take “slow-carbs”, like with fiber and protein, the “right way”, insulin PLUS glucagon are triggered…glucagon avoids that fast “crash”.
So if sugar (sweeteners) are so bad, what to do? Give them up, ok? Easier said than done?
Why are you an addict, you ask? Good qiestion-a glut of EXCESS OMEGA 6…causes Anandamide predominance (a well-known appetite-enhancer that causes FOOD-CRAVINGS).
fasting causes the body to “revert” to beta-oxidation…where fat gets BROKEN DOWN for energy-takes a few days to get started. But beware…eating sugar QUICKLY STOPS KETO…so you need to stay off the sugar rollercoaster, ok?
yes and a lot of empty calories that are addictive: sugar, fructose, salt, alcohol, vegetable oils... All those as "quick-carbs" spike glucose levels causing obesity. Caffeine also messes up the glucose levels - not as bad but overall yes.
