“In our work, we have discovered that wave function collapse, at least in a simple case, is implicit in the existing formalism,” he said, “as long as one allows the use of advanced as well as retarded electromagnetic potentials.”
In other words, the explanation requires accepting the possibility that time can flow backward as well as forward. And for some physicists, that might be too big of a quantum leap.

The amplitude is changing with time but it doesn't move - it has a standing wave with frequency....

This is my comment: The mixture of frequencies that Carver Mead refers to is what Alain Connes focuses on for his noncommutative quantum algebra - the fact that Heisenberg realized the two frequencies as per the Ritz-Rydberg combination principle - are inherently noncommutative time-frequency!! So that's the misunderstanding that Carver Mead has regarding Nonlocality. You should interview Professor Basil J. Hiley about how the quantum potential is inherently noncommutative and thus a radical restructuring of physics is required. thanks
Interview Professor Herbert J. Bernstein - he was my quantum physics professor and then he designed the Superdense quantum teleportation satellite system. He also co-authored research with Aspect or Zeilinger. What else? So Cramer's electromagnetic vector potential extends to outerspace? hahaha. It's instantaneous into outerspace!? Isn't he still limited to the speed of light.
Not Bonehead proposed but rather David Bohm - the "hidden variable" was a misnomer by Bohm as Professor Basil J. Hiley explains!! It's just due to the Schroedinger equation having both a real and imaginary component when you put the equation on polar form. Hiley explains this well. The imaginary component is inherently nonlocal and noncommutative.
Also Professor Herbert J. Bernstein is known for the Bernstein-Susskind-Aharonov Effect that proves the neutron spin is inherently nonlocal as well. He devised the experiment in 1967 and had the "thought-experiment" published before Susskind and Aharonov had the same idea published later.
Professor Basil J. Hiley doesn't need statistics or the wavefunction for quantum noncommutativity physics. It's still the truth of Bohmian quantum nonlocality. So Carver Mead insisted statistics is some red-herring is wrong.
