Tea tree oil (TTO) is extracted from Melaleuca alternifolia. Because of its broad-spectrum antimicrobial (bacteria, fungi, and viruses), anti-cancer, anti-tussive, and antioxidant properties (12). TTO is widely used to treat acne, athlete's foot, and contact dermatitis. TTO contains over 100 components, including terpineol, zinc, and diheptoxy-sulfanylidene-sulfido-λ 5–phosphane (13), the most crucial being terpinen-4-ol (TER), which accounts for >30% of all TTO components.

I've arguably digested more Tea Tree Oil than any human on the planet! So this study is good news for me. haha.

It has also been used as a spice to reduce breast cancer incidence (16). Mechanistically, TER can downregulate the secretion of the inflammatory signaling molecule, NO, which is induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (DSS) (17, 18). In addition, TER plays a role in regulating the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-signaling pathway (19), which is intimately involved in the expression of TJ proteins (20). Hence, we hypothesized that TER would be a promising candidate for IBD therapy.

TER has attracted considerable interest as a bactericidal product in potential applications due to its unique biological activity, including antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Our study showed that TER protected IPEC-J2 cells against LPS-induced inflammation and DSS-induced colitis. Furthermore, we also showed the role of TJ proteins in LPS-or DSS-induced gut barrier damage via the ERK1/2-signaling pathway (Figure 10).

The Hempel Effect

Visually, the frequency and amplitude changes but the EAR hears no difference - both phases are the Perfect Fifth just inverted as undivided yin-yang (the Taiji). I was discussing noncommutative phase with Nobel physicist Brian Josephson - and he said that I didn't understand how octaves were a geometric logarithm - so that C to G is 3/2 yet G to C is 3/4 as the harmonic series. So I tried to point out to him that since the 2 and 4 are the SAME C as "pitch" - then in the same octave, when doubled back, you can not HAVE the same G as Both the Perfect Fifth and Perfect Fourth. Why? Because 3/4 is the reverse direction in time - so that now the "3" is the denominator as a new root tonic. And so the harmonic series assumes this is a logarithmic equation as a ratio that can be inverted - but you can not evenly divide the octave and the Perfect Fifth since 2 does not go into 3 evenly. So this means that 3/4 is actually C to F while C to G is 3/2 and the C to F was derived from doubling 2/3. So this is called the "phantom tonic" in music theory and reveals the noncommutative phase origin of the music harmonics - as Alain Connes recognizes. Let us draw up a fundamental vibration with its first and second harmonic overtones [1:2 and 2:3]….if we then shift the phase relationship, we get a totally different course of the combined curve; that is, of the pressure course [amplitude and frequency] which is apparently effective in the final analysis.
