Just laid down 25 rolls of sod and now it's pouring rain - PERFECT timing!!

Wow last year I laid sod in 95 plus Fahrenheit temp and I had to water it constantly in the killer heat. This year I laid down twice as much sod and it was only 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Then RIGHT when I finished it started raining - and now it's pouring for a perfect soaking of the sod to soften up the dirt underneath.

I could not have had a more perfect Sod laying experience. hahaha.

Sure I could have used a few more rolls of sod - five more rolls or maybe 10 but I will finish with peat moss and grass seed on the rest of the lawn.

We had a pump breakdown for our septic system to go up the hill and the city operates and owns the system - so the city came in yesterday all day to tear out the lawn and fix the pump. hahaha.

I covered up about 80% of the bare soil  dirt - with the "instant grass" sod. It's very nice synthetic fertilized grass - very green.

So that should minimize run off now that I got that sod down but if I had NOT gotten the sod down then this rain would have caused a lot of run off. hahaha.

So it's a win win since now the rain is watering the grass and I don't have to water the new sod.

I already planted about $1000 of grass seed of very expensive "Tuff Turf" grass seed - it's twice the price of what it cost last year. So it's pretty much as expensive as sod!! haha. Not quite as expensive.

It's probably half the cost of sod even though the grass seed doubled in price. Sod is definitely "Instant" lawn if you can keep it watered properly. This is a really good soaking - so I'm very excited to get this head start on the watering.

I really lucked out by tackling the sod project right away after they dug out my lawn. hahaha.
