As to be expected the Wikipedia page on Matthew Manning is woefully inaccurate
Wikipedia is known to be a "skeptic debunking" site that ignores the real evidence of even quantum biology much less the paranormal (the two are basically the same thing).
So that site is much more thorough and understanding of Michael Manning's history and abilities.
In his first book, The Link (1974), which went into 19 editions and was translated into many languages,
I'm just starting his book "The Link" but just the introduction by the Professor Dr George Owen, a lecturer in genetics at Trinity College, Cambridge, is well-written. Matthew's writing is excellent also.
One of the interesting insights that the introduction provides is the claim that people with paranormal abilities all seem to have been shocked early in life or even in the womb - with the case of Michael Manning's mom having received a strong shock while Manning was in the womb.
Suddenly I remembered that when I was a boy we had our string of christmas tree lights and I was alone in our dining room. This was the "Old Skool" full socket lights and for some stupid reason my thumb fit perfectly into the socket (when the string of lights was already plugged in!). I actually was too young to know any better but the shock I received was strong indeed!!
I wonder how much lasting effects that might have had? Because I distinctly remember when I was young - probably several years later but I'm not sure - I was lying in bed and I had this distinct electrical sensation when I put my tongue against the roof of my mouth!
I remember pondering this sensation - it took me awhile to accept that it was indeed an electrical sensation and I just kept wondering WHY that would be the case - when my tongue is against the roof of my mouth? But of course now I know that is the secret of both Indian yoga and China yoga meditation - to keep the tongue against the roof of the mouth to connect the back and front energy channels. I'm sure this is the vagus nerve as when the vagus nerve is activated the mouth starts watering from the roof of the mouth.
So I signed up for his emails.
I'm glad to see he turned to focus on healing energy.
His first book, 'The Link' which told the story of this activity was published when he was 20 years old and went on to sell over 1 million copies. He then had an experience in the Himalayas which changed his life and he then started to work as a healer.
That's fascinating. I want to hear what happened to him in India! here it is
Interview with Matthew Manning - fascinating!

"The last time we met," I remind Manning, "I asked you to place your hands over me, as you would in a routine healing session. I can still remember the heat; you must have been a foot away and yet it felt like standing far too close to a two-kilowatt electric fire. This was coming through two layers of clothing and it was on the edge of being painful. Do you feel that heat when you're working? "Sometimes," he says. On one particular occasion, a male patient passed out from the intense -sensation of burning. No faith or belief, Manning insists, is required on the part of his subject.
Healing can even work on dogs. "The only way I can describe the feeling," he says, "is that I am channelling some kind of unconditional love."

So HOW he stopped the Poltergeists is fascinating -
"It seems I had to empty my mind as completely as a I could and then when my mind was almost completely empty my hand would start moving and it would write in a handwriting that was not my own...."
So he would enter the Yuan Qi Nirvikalpa Samadhi state on his own....and then the formless awareness would channel through that - instead of through his waking state mind as a lesser frequency of energy as the poltergeist....
fascinating!!
Wow Matthew Manning says he doesn't like drawing Picasso and that Picasso is an aggressive spirit and that Picasso dominates him because he draws Picasso a lot. Fascinating!
Picasso on occasion has smashed my pen!
This is the "ramp function" discussed in the Introduction of the book - I think this psychologist wrote the book introduction. So you can see he was in the deep delta brain wave high amplitude state - when he BENT the KEYS with his mind. Fascinating.
Dr. Joel Whitton.
Nucleus Accumbens - is the only part of the brain that produces the ramp function he says...
The nucleus accumbens (NAc) is a major component of the ventral striatum and has long been thought to be a key structure involved in mediating motivational and emotional processes, the limbic-motor interface, and the effects of certain psychoactive drugs.

Frequency-dependent functional connectivity of the nucleus accumbens during continuous transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation in major depressive disorder
Just as I suspected!!
We investigated the functional connectivity (FC) of the nucleus accumbens (NAc) at different frequency bands during real and sham tVNS and explored their associations with depressive symptom changes after one month treatments. The results revealed: 1) during continuous real and sham tVNS there are significant positive FC between the NAc and surrounding areas including the putamen, caudate, and distinct areas of the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC) and the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC); 2
He happened to take the first photograph with his camera pointing towards the spot where I’d earlier been standing whilst contemplating how to configure the seating. To my astonishment, a very large blue orb of energy appeared on the picture.
