Century Stove Double M Innovations ceramic insulation board Mod has a DOUBLE hollow steel baffle!! That's what cools down the 1400 F. exhaust!!

Century Heat FW3000SD question" OK that thread on shows your steel baffle!! It is the old model and has a hollow center - so it's a "double" steel baffle!! Very wild. THAT clarifies everything. thanks

"Mine has a hollow steel baffle that is part of the secondary air system. The back part of the baffle is made of firebrick." -

from another thread called, "Century heat FW3000" (2017) - I knew I wasn't just making up what I was seeing. haha. It's a DOUBLE baffle!!

 That baffle is WILD

Does that baffle contain the secondary air system? It does on my little Century.

The secondary arid tubes are UNDERNEATH though? Strange.

My guess is that the air in between was supposed to insulate the metal to cool it down?

Or I suppose it increases the air flow to the secondary air tubes - even though the tubes are below the baffle - and it preheats the secondary air.

OK NOW it's starting to make sense! That secondary air is what's cooling off your exhaust so much before it goes above the baffle. Wow - totally makes sense now. Fascinating design to be sure.
The baffle in your stove is a "hollow" baffle - so it's a double steel baffle. That's crucial to the design. So the secondary air goes between the two baffles and out into the secondary air tubes below - where your exhaust is going past as it goes up and out of your insulated fire box.

the secondary intake is hidden somewhere under the metal OAK mounting flange that is welded in place directly under the firebox inside the pedestal. The secondary air comes up into the firebox through a 2x2 metal tube in the gap shown between the rear wall firebricks and connects into the integral perforated baffle.
