There's much more similarity I think in these aboriginal case, where blood has many of these same valences as we find in Central Africa. And what's interesting of the aboriginal case from the point of view of Ekila and egalitarianism is that they have this very interesting contradiction between an extraordinary egalitarian economic order and an extremely hierarchical ritual order. And I think that's why James Woodburn thought that... inequality emerges - in the ethnographies of Australian peoples and he saw how ritual was the major way that men asserted, that Elder men asserted their control over Younger men through access to women in marriage and the initiation cycle that people had to follow to be eligible for marriage....
So I think these things are very deep within human history and story-telling...
