Jim Massa Debunks the COP26 spin doctor Hopium claims

"Researchers at the University of Melbourne found that if COP26 emissions reduction plans are actually carried out, then it would limit global temperature rises to below 2C – the first time the world has gone in the right direction." Instead I find this Hopium B.S. - Jim can you debunk this? thanks
A major problem is they keep moving the goalposts. First, compare to 1750 levels. Oh wait, let's start at 1850. Nope, lets compare to 1910 levels. This is done so that they can say, warming has "only" been 1.2 C when if you go all the way back to 1750, temps have reached 1.5 C higher or more. (some data indicates 1.6, 1.65, even 1.7 C). When you keep moving the baseline, any statistical comparative analyses becomes worthless because of the use of different baselines, which in essence is changing the methodology. Plus it is inconsistent and if anything in science, consistency is vitally important. But, here's the main fact that debunks this.... OCEAN HEAT CONTENT. Oceans have absorbed 93% of all emissions these past 50 years. That leaves just 7% staying in the atmosphere and look at how much havoc that has wrought. The oceans hold (it has increased to) 226 ZJ. This heat WILL diffuse to melt sea ice, to go into the atmosphere where temperatures will increase significantly. This heat diffusion alone can increase temps another 3-4 C. This is why getting to net zero while laudable (on paper at least) will not matter nor change anything. Also, this heat has set off all sorts of positive feedback loops including the permafrost thaw and this added heat will only exacerbate matters. Things are already locked into place. Or as some like to say, we have gone past tipping points. In the end, one cannot argue with physics.
