synchronized and combined into one huge telescope the size of Earth.
Even though we had predicted that if you had a black hole that you would see this ring of light, we didn't know that we were going to get that ring of light. That's what we were kind of testing. We could have gotten just a blob...So seeing that ring and seeing a ring that has a size that is consistent other measurements that have been, completely differently, I think that in itself just being able to see that ring of light, that ring exists, is HUGE.

image of an object thousands of trillions of kilometres away...the equivalent of travelling from London to New York 45 trillion times.
The 5,000 terabytes of data collected was so large that it had to be stored on hundreds of hard drives and physically delivered to a supercomputer, which corrected the time differences in the data and produced the image above.
The measurements of the speeds of matter around the centre of the black hole are consistent with being near the speed of light.
Monika:
What are the lines in the new M87 polarization image? They represent the direction in which electromagnetic waves (light) oscillate. The underlying magnetic field is normally perpendicular to these lines, here additionally gravity and plasma effects distorts the appearance.
this very compact region of space can drive powerful jets that extend far beyond the galaxy,” says Monika Mościbrodzka, Coordinator of the EHT Polarimetry Working Group and Assistant Professor at Radboud Universiteit in the Netherlands.

“New polarization images suggest that the powerful jet is formed by plasma flow arrested by aligned magnetic fields in the vicinity of the black hole, resisting its strong gravitational pull,” explains Kotaro Moriyama, an overseas postdoc fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science at Haystack Observatory.
The impressive resolution obtained with the EHT is equivalent to that needed to measure the size of a cricket ball on the surface of the Moon.

In the Q & A someone asks about spacetime shifts of the black hole - vid
The "leader" says that the monochromatic red image is due to the INFINITE RED SHIFT at the event horizon (of matter going into the black hole)....
The "soft hair" black hole information paradox has determined that as a Black Hole ages the energy-information quantum entropy goes back down to zero again while the "soft hair" is the ENTANGLED information from the Hawking radiation....(as a white hole).
During this period of BHWH transition the Hawking radiation should take place. Taking this possibility into account, we utilize the Hamilton-Jacobi and Parkih-Wilczek methods to study the Hawking radiation viewed as a quantum tunneling effect to calculate the tunneling rate of vector particles tunneling inside (outside) the horizon of a WH (BH), respectively. We show that there is a Hawking radiation associated to a WH spacetime equal to the BH Hawking temperature when viewed from the outside region of the WH geometry.
White holes, which are theoretically the exact opposites of black holes, could constitute a major portion of the mysterious dark matter that's thought to make up most of the matter in the universe, a new study finds. And some of these bizarre white holes may even predate the Big Bang, the researchers said.
Previous research has suggested that black holes and white holes are connected, with matter and energy falling into a black hole potentially emerging from a white hole either somewhere else in the cosmos or in another universe entirely. In 2014, Carlo Rovelli, a theoretical physicist at Aix-Marseille University in France, and his colleagues suggested that black holes and white holes might be connected in another way: When black holes die, they could become white holes.
Now, Rovelli and study co-author Francesca Vidotto, of the University of the Basque Country in Spain, suggest that these microscopic white holes could make up dark matter.

The instability arises because modes of short-wavelength are exponentially blue-shifted along the white hole horizon.

In other words, the correspondence works like a hologram — all the information in the higher-dimensional space-time projection is encoded within the lower-dimensional quantum interactions. This “holographic principle” was first proposed by the physics Nobel laureate Gerard ’t Hooft, and Maldacena’s AdS/CFT correspondence provided the first concrete picture of how it might work for a particular form of space-time.
In this view, what looks like continuous space in the AdS universe manifests in the CFT quantum view as entanglement — the interdependence of quantum bits. Here, said Maldacena, “the emergence of space-time is supposed to happen in systems with a large number of qubits that are highly entangled and highly interacting.” In other words, quantum entanglement can produce a space-time that seems to have gravity in it. Gravity, you might say, is spun from quantum effects.
. First up is Monika Mościbrodzka, a member of EHT’s data analysis team who speaks about the significance of the discovery and the future prospects for the project.
“Black holes are no longer just a theory. It’s now reality”, she says.
And then we need to calibrate that data....And then we measure a component of the image and then we have different algorithms that can compare those components into an actual image.https://physicsworld.com/a/the-story-behind-the-first-ever-black-hole-image/
What we see in the picture...so the radio emissions we see is coming from the material that's falling into the black hole, that rotates around it and gets carries up and starts emitting .... The black hole is so massive that it bends spacetime around. Light emitted by this matter falling into the black hole is following the curvature of spacetime that is BENT by the black hole.... The black hole acts like a LENS and that's why we see the ring of light and the dark hole in the middle is the Black Hole Shadow....
It's the matter itself that gets heated and starts emitting radiation like a glowing plasma and that's the radiation that we observe....
