Unboxing the New BLACK color Cosmoline. Last year I tried this for the first time - it was an amber color so it could be confused for rust - I think I did that this spring on the frame. I sprayed this orange color with phosphoric acid but it was NOT converting! haha. So with black that won't confuse me OR more importantly mechanics that work on the car.
So they also sell a black that is a rubberized product I think - but we don't want that as it can trap moisture.
So the magic of Parrafin Wax is that it is Hydrophobic or repels water - as per the inherent molecular bonds of the wax. Due to the dispersant chemical used, then this lowers the Flash melting point to 105 Degrees Fahrenheit. Also this stuff dues wear down due to other chemical reactions. So best to apply it every year at this stage in the game.
Alligatoring is a crazed cracking pattern
had to look up what "CRAZED" meant in terms of cracking...
I sprayed this in the "internal" of the chassis box frame also - so hopefully some of that orange color I'm seeing is not rust. haha. But I converted about 70% of the rust already internally. I will do another spray today.
