Unboxing my new Hermit Hut roof: 10 x 12 synthetic rubber Firestone Pond Liner shipped by Graystone (thanks)

 https://elixirfield.blogspot.com/2021/02/thanks-to-uncle-mud-for-rubber-pond.html

as Previously blogged and newly delivered:

So instead of a 10 foot long "roof kit" roll as sold locally - at 70 pounds weight - I get this nice compact box that's 35 pounds or so.

Delivered by UPS - via the above company.

So now we begin unfolding it - when I opened the box there was NO off-gassing smell at all!!

Unlike the PVC tent from China which - upon unboxing - just unleashed a huge toxic cloud of fumes.

So there are cheaper PVC "pond liners" or probably even roof liners. NO WAY!!

So this thing is 10 x 12 - let's see if I can fold it out to the 10 feet and then fold it back into the box.

So it widens

And expands in length - to 10 feet long.

So there are white spots on the synthetic rubber but it's not dust. It's thick rubber - seems completely solid enough.

But again I may also get the local "roof kit" so that I can cover the whole roof and also do a double layer of 90 mm of an inch (strange dimensions). So 1/10th of an inch about.

OK so this will cover the length as 12 feet long - the length of the hut.

But then the width will not be near wide enough.

So then I get the 10 x 20 roof kit stocked locally.

That will cover the width and then not the total length (two feet short).

So both of them will provide double coverage and then I'll put a couple tarps over them - to tie down.

I have the tarps already - one ripped about a foot long near the end - and so the UV is already damaging the tarps.

But the UV will not damage this synthetic rubber - it should last until the Eco-Apocalypse easily.
