HP Photosmart 7660 printer now officially destroyed: The secret hidden Black Ink Blob Monster that had stopped the black ink cartridge from working

I couldn't figure out how to take the top off - I unscrewed everything that I could see. One part broke off and a screw was hidden underneath. There must have been a secret covering of it. And then I couldn't really even see the "nozzles" on the printhead. But then I saw the real destruction - where the ink leaves the black ink cartridge? Holy moly!!

What is it? The Creature from the Black Ink Lagoon!!

There it sits, pondering its former home. It's no wonder the black ink cartridge did NOT WORK AT ALL.

It's ALIVE!!

So the printer lasted 14 years. In our disposable age - even the software no longer exists for it - and the hardware is only "refurbished parts." Not much can be done.

Except ponder the beauty of the Black Ink Blob Monster!!

I'd say it's at least HALF pure black ink that leaked out and congealed over 14 years...

Kind of amazing that it was actually printing an hour or so ago - but the thing is that it had NO BLACK INK for text. So only the "back up" black from the color cartridge I guess.

We could also do a black "image" printing - so that was not as strong as just the color cartridge printing.

So I guess it still worked on some level? Not sure how the computer "balanced" out that ink.

Oh well.
