Above image illustrates how a temperature rise of more than as 10°C could eventuate as early as in 2026 when taking into account aerosol changes, albedo changes, water vapor, nitrous oxide, etc., as discussed in an earlier analysis. The joint impact of these warming elements, including the cloud feedback, threatens to cause a total rise of 18°C, as an earlier post warned, adding the image on the right. How high will the temperature rise? At a 3°C rise, humans will likely go extinct, while most life on Earth will disappear with a 5°C rise, and as the temperature keeps rising, oceans will evaporate and Earth will go the same way as Venus, a 2019 analysis warned.
A recent study points at a tipping point of 1,200 ppm CO₂e when marine stratus clouds start to disappear, resulting in an additional global heating of eight degrees Celsius (8°C or 14.4°F).
In other words, such a rise from clouds feedback would clearly suffice to cause extinction of most life on Earth.

On May 15, 2019, scripps.ucsd.edu recorded a carbon dioxide level of 415.7 ppm at Mauna Loa, Hawaii. NOAA recorded a methane level of 1.867 ppm for December 2018. As shown at the FAQ page, methane is 150 times as potent as a greenhouse gas over the next ten years compared to carbon dioxide. Accordingly, this 1.867 ppm of methane causes global heating of 280.05 ppm CO₂e.
when using a 1750 baseline and when using ocean air temperatures and higher Arctic anomalies, we may have already crossed both the 1.5°C and the 2°C thresholds that politicians at the Paris Agreement pledged would not get crossed.
When taking into account that sunspots are currently low and that we're currently a La Niña period, we are already at 2°C above pre-industrial and the temperature rise over the next few years could become huge.
There are further reasons why the temperature rise could strongly accelerate over the next few years. Loss of cooling aerosols is one such reason. Another reason is the growing frequency and intensity of forest fires, which come with high emissions of methane, of heating aerosols such as black carbon and brown carbon, and of carbon monoxide that causes hydroxyl depletion, thus extending the lifetime of methane and heating aeosols.

Methane levels as high as 2.975 ppm were recorded on June 11, 2019, at 469 mb. A peak this high is likely to have originated from the seafloor.
Above image shows a solid-colored magenta area over the ESAS that afternoon, further indicating that large amounts of methane did erupt earlier that day from destabilizing sediments in the ESAS.
Gareth I appreciate your feedback on declaring what "people want." Indeed the "wants of people" are the issue are they not? I call this "Mall Science" - you're in the mall with your mom and you're crying that she is not finding what you "want." https://elixirfield.blogspot.com/2020/12/bernie-sanders-only-has-4-million-bucks.html
For example someone just pointed out to me that it takes 1 million dollars to buy a decent house in the Northwest of the US and Bernie Sanders only has 4 million - despite his second newly purchased vacation home. So what's the problem with the "wants of the people"? OK so now let's look at the actual science of regenerative agriculture. Not the "wants of the people" but rather the actions of the previous 50 million bison that lived in the US before the Western militarized "public" did their bison genocide to prevent the Lakota tribes from living off Nature. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2020/12/temperatures-keep-rising.html
So the truth is that global warming will keep accelerating precisely because people "do not WANT" to hear what's really going on. The DeNile is Deep!! This "channel" creator has tried to assimilate the grim news into a "just have a think" conceptual realm. But as Slavoj Zizek pointed out the "ecological crisis" will cause the Collapse of the Self (precisely the "wants" of the people). https://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2019/06/when-will-we-die.html
"CH₄, CO₂ and N₂O levels in the atmosphere in 2018 were, respectively, 259%, 147% and 123% of their pre-industrial (before 1750) levels."
So really who is Spamming whom? Posting a comment on youtube is not a "customer" relationship based on "people's wants." I'm not here to serve you MAN.
"According to a 2017 study by Voigt et al., Arctic permafrost contains vast amounts of nitrogen (more than 67 billion tons). Warming of the Arctic permafrost is accelerating, causing rapid thaw of permafrost soils, and this now threatens to cause huge releases of nitrous oxide to the atmosphere. The study concluded that nitrous oxide emissions in the Arctic are likely substantial and underestimated, and show high potential to increase with permafrost thaw."

"Whereas nitrous oxide is produced by microbes in the soil, and humans have greatly increased the amount of nitrogen available to these microbes," Nevison says. When we spread nitrogen fertilizer on the soil, we also feed those bacteria. And they produce more nitrous oxide. Bacteria in seawater also produce nitrous oxide when the fertilizer runs down the rivers and out to sea. ...We can't phase out nitrogen fertilizers, Nevison says. And studies show we could make only a modest difference if we used them more carefully. "
The easiest way to tell the difference between compost and fertilizer is that compost feeds the soil while fertilizer feeds the plants. Fertilizer adds to the soil's nutrient levels. But instead of feeding the soil food web, the ingredients in fertilizers are intended to meet the needs of fast-growing plants."
mixing the feedlot manure with composted green waste halves the [nitrous oxide] emissions.
A recent report in Germany reviewed GHG emissions from a number of organic waste processing plants ( http://hss.ulb.uni-bonn.de/2012/3002/3002.pdf), and found that the net N2O emissions during composting was 0.055 g per kg of waste, significantly lower than the 0.3 g per kg of waste value used in the IPCC (2006) GHG emission estimates. It was also reported that open windrow composting of anaerobic digestate resulted in the highest N2O emissions, with the recommendation to implement aerated composting as a post digestion strategy to reduce N2O emissions.

It is estimated that, if expanded globally, silvopasture operations can reduce carbon emissions by 31.2 gigatons and boost farmers’ financial gains by $699 billion by 2050. That’s in addition to protecting farmers from the unavoidable impacts of climate change like extreme flooding and drought.
Pastures strewn or crisscrossed with trees sequester five to ten times as much carbon as those of the same size that are treeless, storing it in both biomass and soil. Carbon aside, the advantages of silvopasture are considerable, with financial benefits for farmers and ranchers. Livestock, trees, and any additional forestry products, such as nuts, fruit, and mushrooms, generate income on different time horizons.
Gareth please stop trying to construe the ecological crisis as a consumer marketing problem. Whether people "WANT" to believe in it or not - it's still happening. That's just the hard cold truth of it. If you WANT to blame environmentalists for not "marketing" properly then maybe your priorities are wrongly placed. Mother Nature could care less whether a bunch of dirty hippies come off the wrong way. This is not at all about whether people like me or not. Corporations are now the Sovereigns in the New World. For example I used to do activism as my "career." So then people accused me of just doing it to seek "attention" to myself. So for example I personally protested against Monsanto controlling the "science" at our public University. https://mndaily.com/254855/uncategorized/genetic-engineering-protest-disrupts-address/ You can still read about my protest in the University newspaper - from over 20 years ago!
"The British Medical Association recently called for a
moratorium on genetically engineered crops, which Hempel highlighted by
carrying a sign advertising the decision. “Over 237 countries have
called for a ban on genetic engineering, but, for some reason, the
University has taken it upon itself to be a leader in the field,” Hempel
said.
They learned they had lost their jobs from a note stuck to a wall. On June 6, the 1,300 workers of the ECC-2 unit of Gokaldas Exports, a garment factory in India producing for H&M, saw a note next to the factory gate stating that all of them would be laid off the next day. While Gokaldas claimed that layoffs were unavoidable due to falling orders, H&M stated that it had not actually decreased its order volume. And workers noticed something else: ECC-2 was the only factory that Gokaldas had closed out of its 20 plants—and also the only one of its factories with a large union.
Employers are using the pandemic as a pretext to retaliate against unions
....
In Myanmar, Zar Zar Tun, a Burmese garment worker, led a strike at the Blue Diamond factory in Yangon; a day later, she was jailed in Myanmar’s Insein prison for three months, and 100 of her colleagues who had joined the strike were fired. The owner of her factory is a supplier to Vera Bradley. At another factory in Myanmar, Hayman Aung, secretary of her union, posted a question on Facebook about compassionate leave without naming the factory where she worked. She was fired a month later, then told to report to the local police station or face arrest for defamation. the police took her phone and forced her to delete her Facebook account.
