Lowest Arctic Sea Ice on Record in 3 million years - achieved yesterday - vid

The Arctic ice after the second largest cyclone in history
Of course just yesterday it was announced that in fact, NOT VERY WIDELY, but it was announced that we have the LOWEST SEA ICE EXTENT ON RECORD NOW and of course ever since 2012 that's been the one to beat. We've never quite made it back to there and so that was the justification why nothing could happen until 2040 or even the end of the century....

On July 15, Arctic sea ice extent stood at 7.51 million square kilometers (2.90 million square miles), 330,000 square kilometers (127,000 square miles) below the record for July 15, set in 2011. This places extent at the lowest level for this time of year on the satellite record.
