Alone in the Arctic Wilderness for 4 months (season six)

Alone : The Arctic, Season 6

I just watched this whole season - on Netflix.

I've never watched a "season" of the Alone show - I guess the idea is whomever lasts the longest then wins $500,000 while no one else wins anything. But since I lived in the wilderness in the arctic - and since northern Minnesota is also similar conditions - then THIS season of Alone was particularly fascinating to me.

Alone: *Spoilers* Scouting the Arctic for Food and Shelter (Season 6) | History

It was pretty clear "who" would win - I thought - near the beginning - based on the person's skill set. The person had LIVED in the arctic already - in Siberia - for a long time - with native peoples and trained in their survival skills. Sorry for that spoiler but there you go.

ALONE | Season 6 Premieres June 6 10 EP

Well it's been "out" for a year - so spoilers are allowed I guess. Also there were THREE hut-shelter fires out of 10 or is it nine people? Seriously? That's a very high percentage. But I wondered about their fire set ups - none of them had chimneys? The smoke inhalation must have been terrible - no wonder people got so SAD - they don't realize that smoke lung damage causes depression!

Alone: First Reactions (Season 6) | Exclusive | History

Two people had to leave early due to food poisoning - parasites or bacteria.

And several people then had to leave due to failing their medical check up - starvation eating their heart muscles, etc.

Oh this woman was the second to last to leave - so as soon as she left then the other person won!

So despite all the turmoils - I was thoroughly impressed with all the "contestants" - people had amazing aim with their bow and arrows - and people knew how to set traps very well - and build excellent shelters (again the fire set ups were sketchy).

And yet the dude who had already lived in Siberia and had trained in indigenous skills - he clearly excelled - and why not? He was relying on skills that had developed over thousands of years from a locally adapted culture to a very survive unforgiving environment.

For him to survive required him to CONSTANTLY be adapting and adjusting his techniques to get food - and fat - and he had to fight off wolverines (there USED to be wolverines in northern minnesota but no longer - well actually they do "travel" through down from Canada and I think I might have seen a Wolverine Roadkill nearby my land!!). I went to go back to check but the carcass was gone.

A wolverine spotted in North Dakota became the first confirmed sighting of the animal in the state in more than a century. Stephanie Tucker, of North Dakota Game and Fish Department, told KFGO the last time a wolverine was confirmed in North Dakota was in the late 1800s.May 3, 2016
 So it's possible....

Yeah it was more likely a fisher.

Anyway - when the ice froze over the water - that's when "contestants" really started freaking out - how to get fish and water when it's all frozen? That's when the secret skills really had to kick in. Everyone else starved - and verged on starving to death.

Jordan is the dude who lived in Siberia, training with indigenous peoples

Jordan has all the skills necessary to overcome the challenges of Alone and take home the $500,000 prize.
