This stove is twice as big as the previous one I made. So the one I made just did not kick out enough heat with a long enough burn time. It would keep a person alive but not comfortable. This one should provide comfort along with survival! So there already are legs as you can see. I just need to add a chimney and a door.
Luckily there is a video of someone converting this same type of grill into a wood stove camping heater.... I'll find it in my playlist.
So there already is a heavier metal insert for the bottom - of the grill - and so I'll probably adjust this grill so it fits in the bottom - so I have an ash try in addition - for extra oxygen on the bottom.
So also I got a new V-belt for the bicycle generator and I moved the motor back - so now the belt does not slip off. And I put the most comfortable bicycle seat back on. So it works great - only I might get a bigger DC-DC buck converter. This new motor is much smoother than the previous one. It's a newer design - so also more powerful - so I get less resistance at higher RPM. So I should be able to get more amps if I get a bigger DC-DC buck converter.
Only the multimeter is not reading the voltage as I had to reverse the polarity on the motor - reversed the wires. So I still need to figure out if that is worth trying to go from 3 to 4 amps to 5 to 6 amps.
So I am very happy about this ReStore trip (Restore is a fund-raiser for Habitat for Humanity - selling donated DIY household construction tools, furniture, appliances, etc).
So I was really thinking I would have to build ANOTHER wood stove - and use kitchen stainless steel buckets - the SAME design as this grill stove!! So now I just need to bolt together the upper and bottom half - so as to contain the fire better. Then make a door and hole for the stove pipe. I have a hinge for the door.
I will rewatch the video - So here is my DIY Hot Tent Stove playlist
Here is the vid of making a wood stove out of the same style of grill
Here is the test burn of this stove design - vid
So his stove weighs 10 pounds with the stove pipe? It's definitely thinner metal than this stove.
here it is!!
OK now to find more info on this stove.
So I wonder if mine is propane or charcoal...?
Also mine has a red lid and venting on the lower part.
So I don't have the top vents - so mine must be a really old model!!
So this is the same Lid I have... I wonder if they did their own conversion of a Grillmaster into a charcoal stove?
Mine has closing vents on the end.
That's the 1980s version. I think I got this one.
FINALLY FOUND IT!!!
Wow - Sunbeam is used in accounting books - due to "Chainsaw Al"
OK finally - the SAME handle
This is indeed the SAME grill.
So yep - SAME side handle - only someone converted it from GAS to Charcoal - so instead of that intake pipe - there is a sliding vent cover. haha.
Sunbeam 8208 Tabletop Gas Grill Portable Propane BBQ Outdoor
Very much "heavy-gauge steel"
