My yoga meditation training predicted science (once again): the slow wave delta sleep increases the cerebrospinal fluid pressure

So I just blogged on this https://elixirfield.blogspot.com/2019/11/deep-sleep-brainwaves-vastly-increases.html a few days ago.

They found that, during sleep, large waves of cerebrospinal fluid flow into and out of the brain every 20 seconds, a process thought to remove waste. The inward flow was preceded by patterns of slow waves of electrical activity, called delta waves.

These brainwaves are also known to play a role in consolidating memories while we sleep. The researchers found that the waves coincided with blood flowing out of the brain, which they say helps balance the total volume of fluid around the brain.
Now thanks to the recent full lotus meditation donation then I was inspired to re-read my previous book (that was of interest to the donator).

As I was re-reading my book (much of which I have not read since I wrote it!) - almost ten years ago!! - I find this passage:

....because slow wave delta frequency causes a spiral increase as higher hormonal amplitude or electrochemical power.

So what science studied corroborated my PERSONAL meditation experiences from 10 years ago?

Well I guess I should feel kind of pleased with myself. haha.

And by the way - this can be REVERSED!!

So if I want to take a quick "Power Nap" - I just go into full lotus and whammo! I put on the small universe meditation C.D. and if I NEED sleep then I almost immediately go into deep dreamless sleep. I wake up to Chunyi's voice ending the meditation a half hour later! And, of course, I'm still in full lotus.

So when I wrote the above - I was just blabbing about my PERSONAL experience. In no way did I really try to scrutinize it or validate it, etc. But NOW science has done the work for me!!

haha. Hilarious!!

And I do the work for science - I did it on myself and continue to do so. I can "induce" deep wave delta sleep by sitting in full lotus! (again IF I need that type of rejuvenation).

One of the stories I have told is that I was sitting on a bench in full lotus at the University of Minnesota - outside - and I did not realized that I was in full deep sleep! A young female student accosted me and woke me up since her parents were from India and she was interested in meditation. She was shocked to discover that indeed I was in deep sleep while in Padmasana. haha.

I did happen to run into her about eight years later when she happened to order organic fruit from my workplace and I delivered the fruit to her. She was teaching meditation as well. I can't remember if I reminded her - I think I did - but she had previously been freaked out by me. So I guess she did not order any more fruit (at least not while I was there). haha.
