Hopefully I just imagined the whole "bullet whizzing to the ground nearby me" experience.
I thought I had bruised my toenails - but no - it is black fungus I guess. I forgot I had this before and I treated it with tea tree oil. This time I'm trying "soaking" the whole feet as I have several toenails now affected. The first time - that is not a full return - so it must be spread from my work boots.
You can also do a foot soak a few times per week. Add five drops of tea tree oil to a half-ounce of carrier oil, mix them, stir into a bucket of warm water, and soak your feet for 20 minutes.
Anyway so I have my feet soaking now - which means I can't go into full lotus at the computer. I figure the LONGER I soak my feet - the more effective this will be. I poured in several ounces of teatree oil. I think I can kind of feel it taking effect.
My farm friend had warned me I was going to get foot rot - but I had forgotten about my black toe fungus. I had that awhile since I never had it before - so at first I just thought my big toe was bruised. Then during some google search suddenly I happened upon an image that matched my big toe. So I poured tea tree oil directly down into the toe nail and that made the fungus disappear! Pretty awesome.
Well I mean it came back again after my farm foray of daily swamp stank boots. But I guess I need to just keep soaking in tea tree oil all the time for a while.
According to a 2013 study, tea tree oil was effective in reducing growth of the fungus Trichophyton rubrum in nail infections. T. rubrum is a fungus that can cause infections such as athlete’s foot and nail fungus. Improvements were seen after 14 days.
It usually takes a few months for the nail to heal completely.yeah so if I lapse in treatment then it will come back. I just can't be soaking my feet all the time but I can "pour" the tea tree oil down into the nails.
So then - I have been taking the "bicycle route" to my land up north - and there are several miles of gravel road. Plus the shoulders have gravel elsewhere. So I realized if I do every bicycle up there - a long trip that I would take several days to do - then I need some off-road tires. Luckily Goodwill supplied me with a smaller frame 12 speed with off-road tires today!! So I snatched that up.
Then I made a donation of some of our stuff - that was meager but the coupon was 50% off!! I'm not sure why they are doing 50% off coupons now - it seems to have been going on for a couple months....
So I got a bicycle and safety orange shirt and hat - for about $13.
Yeah that's an amazing price for a functioning bicycle! One of the break pads doesn't work - just needs adjusting I guess. But just having back wheel breaks is alright - I would plan to just "old skool" along - tool along like a Rastafarian - and take my time. Not one of these "Weekend Warrior" trips.
So that way if the car every breaks down or I need to go up north on my own without the car - I can just hop on that bicycle and I'm set to go! If it breaks down? Well I'm out $8 or whatever.
I should get a tire patch kit and I have a pump - but it's a big pump. I don't have a little travel pump.
I definitely feel tingling under my toenails - the fungi life form is struggling....
So here is my latest Roof Plan.
I get two of those Silicone polyester breathable waterproof heavy strength tarps. That's $100.
So then I put one tarp over the rafters - don't even attach it. It's extra big - so I push it down a bit through the rafters - so it hangs a bit lower with space.
Then I get the 3 1/2 inch R-15 Rockwool Comfort Batt insulation. I fill the space between the rafters - putting the rockwool on top of the tarp. The tarp should hold since it has so much extra space hanging over the sides.
So then I attach the tarp with all the gussets - it has a ton of them - but I do not put any holes into the tarp itself.
Then over the rockwool - I put in cross beams going the other lengthwise - against the rafters. So this goes OVER the rockwool but since the rockwool pressed down into the hanging tarp - then I should have space.
So then I put another layer of rock wool the OTHER direction - going parallel with the lengthwise cross beams. This prevents some "mantalk" term for when you get ice dams on the roof from gaps in the insulation....
So then I put the 2nd tarp on top of that rockwool - and I attach that tarp underneath as well.
So now the main problem is compression of the insulation - thereby undermining the R-value.
But the comfort batt is way cheaper that the compressed board which has a LESS R-value anyway. So if it gets compressed from snow, etc. then I'm just saving money and I can add more insulation later.
So then will the roof have enough "strength"? The tarps are extra strong and with the rafters and cross beams and TWO tarps? Yes I don't think I need any plywood sheathing. This way the roof will "breath" and yet should also be waterproof - since each tarp is water proof.
There you have it.
Simple. No nails - no staples - into the tarps. oh except where the cross beams go over the rafters - but I'll try have insulation cover over the rafters also.... and just compress it down.
So it's still expensive. $100 for two really nice tarps.
Then probably $200 for the insulation - or maybe more. Just a total guess.
Also I need to get a bunch more Metal No Trespassing signs - no hunting, etc. and then write my name and number with permanent marker.... So one for each "corner" of the property. Then one every 500 feet - so that is just two more signs. But I'll just put them on one side - the gun crazy side. So I'll add 4 signs to that side.
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/97B.001
The owner, occupant, or lessee of private land, or an authorized manager of public land may prohibit outdoor recreation on the land by posting signs once each year that:Does not say "first and last name" - so I'll just put last name.
(1) state "no trespassing" or similar terms;
(2) display letters at least two inches high;
(3) either:
(i) are signed by the owner, occupant, lessee, or authorized manager; or
(ii) include the legible name and telephone number of the owner, occupant, lessee, or authorized manager; and
(4) either:
(i) are at intervals of 1,000 feet or less along the boundary of the area, or in a wooded area where boundary lines are not clear, at intervals of 500 feet or less; or
(ii) mark the primary corners of each parcel of land and access roads and trails at the point of entrance to each parcel of land except that corners only accessible through agricultural land need not be posted.
(c) A person may not erect a sign that prohibits outdoor recreation or trespassing where the person does not have a property right, title, or interest to use the land.
So I can sign my full name as being illegible and then just make my last name printed as legible!
This defines me as under Agroforestry legal protection.
17.458 AGROFORESTRY.
Subdivision 1.Definition.
"Agroforestry" means the cultivation of short-rotation woody crops using agricultural practices to produce timber or forest products.
Subd. 2.Agricultural pursuit.
Agroforestry is an agricultural pursuit.
e) "Short rotation woody crops" or "crop" means hybrid poplar and other woody plants that are harvested for their fiber within 15 years of planting. So I harvest their fiber to GROW MUSHROOMS!!
Subd. 2.Agricultural resource.
"Agricultural resource" means any organic matter which is available on a renewable basis from agricultural processes, including agricultural crop, animal, and wood production, waste, and residues.
