Peter Kingsley seems to be suggesting that humanity itself is in great danger because ever since Plato tried to dismiss the ancient gods of Homer and set humanity on a rationalistic footing, we have lost touch with the need, the desire, the value of being in touch with the source of our own being.20 mns in.
awesome review
Western Culture is Doomed, that humanity is Doomed, that we are lemmings heading over the cliff, ...we've lost touch with the essential mission of humanity....I was wondering how Peter Kingsley would take my "spin" on his work - and it seems that he agrees with me! Awesome.
great review! I first encountered Dr. Kingsley in 2000 while researching my master's thesis at University of Minnesota. I did my undergrad at UW-Madison, finishing in 1994. So I studied music privately in Minneapolis as a youth, and had a Pythagorean "initiation" totally on my own. So I secretly devoted my life to studying this and then my master's degree was finished by doing intensive meditation through qigong master Chunyi Lin http://springforestqigong.com You should try interview him - he is an amazing healer that has worked with Mayo Clinic doctors - he did a 49 day "incubation" (Kingsley) full lotus cave meditation at Mt. Qingcheng. So anyway that was a "third eye enlightenment" experience - I saw ghosts! But I had this spacetime vortex that I could not understand - and was very powerful. I stopped training after that to research what had happened. My energy centers closed up by the psychic third eye was still permanently magnetized (I can feel my pineal gland and "flex" it at will). SO - that was in 2000 as I stated. Anyway Kingsley was one of the handful of sources that corroborated my "spinning" spacetime vortex experience! He described this - in relation to the sound of the snake or Syrnix (spelling) in Pre-Socratic initiation. A good book giving the true explanation is "Taoist Yoga: Alchemy and Immortality" - it is in chapter 11 specifically. I also have a book called "Ancient Advanced Acoustic Alchemy" and other books - all free. My only "Amazon" book is called "Do-Ohm up the yin-yang!" So I'm glad that Dr. Kingsley is corroborating my "spin" on him - as you have stated - that "since Plato" - we've been doomed due to this fake rationalism worldview. Anyway -
https://www.theautumnsalon.com/aswritings/darkplacesofwisdomThere have in fact been studies published recently by scientists who have measured and demonstrated that when one recites or even listens to this style of ancient poetry, which is called dactylic hexameter, one's heart rate and breathing start to synchronize. There is something fascinating, even magical about how this particular form or structure of Ancient Greek poetry can even physiologically bring the heartbeat and the in-breath and out-breath into harmony. It is really quite something.Recently I've come across references stating that the ancient Greek poets had been taught their poetry by the birds. This really gets back to understanding the beginnings of Western philosophy, and to the fact that these so called philosophers weren’t simply speaking poetry. They were actually speaking the language of animals, of nature. And I find that when I am speaking in my work about the origins of Western culture I, too, am speaking the language of nature.
there are absolutely parallels between Ancient Greece and Tibet. I have in fact documented quite a lot of them, and given explanations —in many ways for the first time— of how these connections actually existed geographically and historically in the ancient world.
In ancient times the Greeks were not isolated from Tibet, Mongolia, China. And of course, just like Ancient Greece, in those times these were not specific countries in the way we now conceive of them. But yes, many traditions were connected.
