So I just ordered this so I can "sun dry" shrooms to build up Vitamin D in the Shiitake shrooms.
His new design is bigger by 20 square inches I think. yeah so the new one is 144 square inches versus 121 square inches (meaning 12 by 12 is the new one).
Here is the engineer who designed the oven and sells it - doing the assembly - vid
One thing I like - is he has also invented a DIY solar heated shower - so it's NOT a "plastic bag" that would off-gas toxic chemicals into the water as it heats up. No - it's a steel tank that fits into the oven.

That's his original channel - before his updated model.
So what's his website?
https://www.allseasonsolarcooker.com/
It appears he no longer offers the designs as a free DIY download but the plans are free upon request to the areas he helps out around the world, etc. https://www.sunshineonmyshoulder.com/all-season-solar-cooker-review/
I've always wanted a Solar oven cooker - I have looked at designs before. There is someone in the Minnesota Metro who designs these also. I think I even called them up before.
Oh that's the Solavore company...
OK so this is were Jim really "shines" - he created his own Acronym that sums up the principles of a solar oven - and the LAST principle is what he considers the most important:
Solar Oven - STARBASE Minnesota
Take the solar oven outside on a sunny day sometime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m..
Duration.
So his design enables Collection, Absorption, Retention - all hours of the day time - whereas the other solar oven models only allow a "noon time" working period.
Light CollectionLight AbsorptionHeat RetentionCooking Time DurationRemove any one of the 4 basic requirements listed above and solar cooking will fail.
Light Collection and Concentration: Solar cookers use one or more reflectors to concentrate light into the cooking area. Cookers with multiple reflectors provide the best cooking power. Will a single reflector work? Yes. However, cooking will be much slower. Use a multi-reflector cooker to collect and concentrate the light into the cooking area. Light Absorption: To maximize cooking success, you must consider light absorption and reflection. For best results, use cooking pots that have a dull, dark surface -- a flat black finish is best. Other colors of cookware can work, but the lighter-colored and shinier your cookware, the slower your cooking will be. Heat Retention: Once light is collected and absorbed, your pot will begin to get hot -- but retaining that heat is crucial to cooking success. Reflective panel cookers like the ASSC can retain heat by using glass bakeware (2 bowls required) or reusable high heat bags to contain your cooking pot. Cooking Time Duration: We have collected light, turned that light into heat, and have retained that heat. Now we need to have those 3 elements working together for a sufficient duration to complete our task. Most solar cooker designs will provide good temperatures for 4 hours a day - between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The best solar cookers will be capable of providing good cooking performance any time the sun is shining 8 to 12 hours each day.If your solar cooking outing did not produce the results you expected, check the list above.
So the Minnesota "society" is promoting Solar Ovens to be used in developing countries (2011 vid). But essentially I need to keep my use of wood fuel down to a minimum - so all the better if I can cook with the sun.
That's slightly south of me - and a comment on Jim's design. So it should work fine.
So the other big thing is most Solar Cookers are "ovens" in the sense that they rely on a plastic panel to trap the heat. This design by Jim does not rely on such a plastic cover. The plastic cover is an added option. Reflective Cooker reviews vid
So that means I can just put the drying racks right into the oven for solar drying.
So then I ordered a set of drying racks designed for a solar oven - and the drying racks are 12 by 12.
So I will probably have to make the racks slightly smaller to fit inside the oven - but that should be possible. But this oven is also very flexible - and so the 12 x 12 space might have some wiggly room.
This vid on what cookware fits into the oven - should fit the rack - lots of space
