Dear Professor Richner: In lieu of the evolutionary adaptive advantage of consonant low integer harmonic ratios, I have stumbled upon a mathematical mystery at the origin of Western science, rooted in fundamental pitch perception as quantum noncommutative nonlocal phase. I had recent correspondence with Nobel physicist Brian Josephson about my music research. He previously had said he didn't know music theory well enough to comment on my research and then he asked me what I thought of his music compositions. Then later he thanked me for sending him quantum physics professor Lawrence Domash's reference to the Josephson Junction as a model of how mantra meditation resonates quantum nonlocality as spin 1/2 noncommutative phase of time-frequency energy. And so when I sent him my new free book Ancient Advanced Acoustic Alchemy he immediately balked at my supposed misunderstanding of music theory! haha. I find this quite fascinating - the overlap of music theory, math and metaphysics. So as you probably know, we can listen faster than Fourier Uncertainty and listening is macroquantum coherent. So this leads to a definite magical quality to listening as the ability to "extract" or resonate with superluminal phonon-information from the future through meditation! The Hempel Effect

Visually, the frequency and amplitude changes but the EAR hears no difference - both phases are the Perfect Fifth just inverted as undivided yin-yang (the Taiji). I was discussing noncommutative phase with Nobel physicist Brian Josephson - and he said that I didn't understand how octaves were a geometric logarithm - so that C to G is 3/2 yet G to C is 3/4 as the harmonic series. So I tried to point out to him that since the 2 and 4 are the SAME C as "pitch" - then in the same octave, when doubled back, you can not HAVE the same G as Both the Perfect Fifth and Perfect Fourth. Why? Because 3/4 is the reverse direction in time - so that now the "3" is the denominator as a new root tonic. And so the harmonic series assumes this is a logarithmic equation as a ratio that can be inverted - but you can not evenly divide the octave and the Perfect Fifth since 2 does not go into 3 evenly. So this means that 3/4 is actually C to F while C to G is 3/2 and the C to F was derived from doubling 2/3. So this is called the "phantom tonic" in music theory and reveals the noncommutative phase origin of the music harmonics - as Alain Connes recognizes. Let us draw up a fundamental vibration with its first and second harmonic overtones [1:2 and 2:3]….if we then shift the phase relationship, we get a totally different course of the combined curve; that is, of the pressure course [amplitude and frequency] which is apparently effective in the final analysis. When looking at both curves, one might suppose that in the two cases we should hear two sounds that are just as different. But in fact our ear does not notice any difference. biophysicist Vitus B. The occurrence of a mathematical term here is unexpected. Or as Professor Borzacchini states: " These remarks raise the question of the difference between the ancient Pythagorean ‘musical’ perception as displayed in the Pythagorean idea of ‘linear number’ in Boethius [Philolaus] or in Nicomachus, and the modern ‘geometrical’ perception of the linear numerical magnitudes."
