yes I was in Venezuela - in fact I had a dream about it last night! I was there in 1998 with my friend from Venezuela. I was in the Andes, talking to bare-footed peasants. I sang them some beatles songs. They said they had never voted in their lives but they were going to vote for Hugo Chavez. Another venezeulan friend of mine - we stayed at her dad's house and he was an OPEC lawyer for Venezuela. He got kidnapped by the Jackal. He went to school at Columbia University in NYC (A CIA stronghold). So the US has had control of Venezuelan oil for a long time - putting in military regimes, etc. That's why Chavez had to be removed. What amazes me is that people in the US have very little understanding of how US Empire works. I had a relative - just not know what the World Bank was! And on the other hand "self censorship" is the most common form of indoctrination in the US - as Chomsky points out.
So how many people have really read and studied Noam Chomsky? He's done the most thorough structural expose of US Empire but I even had a correspondence with him about this. He said that even the so-called activists don't really study his work, instead just reading his more superficial interviews. Yes it takes time to study Chomsky but it's a life-changing read. Still who WANTS to read Chomsky? Not many because most people don't have the time to give that kind of priority to a writing style that Chomsky points out has been described as "turgid." Also what's the advantage to reading Chomsky?
For me I used Chomsky - I quoted him - to argue for the Workers Rights Consortium at the University of Minnesota - I got it passed in the University Senate at Minnesota (50,000 students). Then I used Chomsky to write a graduate paper predicting the US would be going back into Iraq and that the sanctions were already genocidal - that was 1998. I was told by the instructor that my paper was "too aggressive." And when I saw him several years later - and said what about my paper now? He said, "that's graduate school!" haha. So the point being is that someone could get a well paying job as a "pundit" or working at some "development" institution, etc. just because they practice Self-Censorship and refuse to read structural critiques of US Empire as NOam Chomsky is. My dad gave me lots of books to read - all far right wing critiques like Dixie Lee Ray, etc. I read all of them and I wrote detailed critiques of each book and gave him the critiques. Then I asked him to read NOam Chomsky. Nope. Why should he? haha. People in power of course have no need to learn the truth - as long as the system is working for them.
So Ghandi was against the partition of India and Pakistan but the politicians claimed Ghandi was not practical enough and he was really just a spiritual person. So the politicians stated that the Muslims were secretly trying to take over India, etc. so they're had to be partition. Yes what is quite fascinating is that political views are hard-wired. I learned this from doing door to door grassroots canvassing full time for a couple summers. So unless someone gets hit by lightning - they're not gonna change their political views. And also evil is real and it is also hard-wired. So obviously we don't want to accept this.

But Chomsky is an interesting researcher - he believes that humans have an innate sense of freedom. Also he was influenced by Martin Buber and at times he questions technological society. Chomsky emphasizes that indigenous cultures are on the cutting edge of the global warming activism. I call him Chi-Om-Sky. Still as far as the "solution" - yes modern humans are very much like chimpanzees based on patriarchy of rape and war mongering.
For example the worst put down is for an adult male to be living in his mom's basement (a Freudian reference) but in Bonobo culture - the male spends his life living with his mom - that is the ideal. The bonobos don't have war and rape. So I'll choose bonobo culture - thanks! haha. Yes there has been a study on the repulsive instinctive reaction as a predictor of political views. In reality it has to do with the vagus nerve - the parasympathetic nervous system.
So this is why Fascism relies on constant references to "disgusting" and trying to reduce others to sub-human supposed levels. Wilhelm Reich figured this out way back in the 1930s - he realized there was a close connection between serotonin, lecithin and the vagus nerve. For example medical doctors still teach to "let the baby cry it out" and that somehow the baby is manipulating the parents! I discussed this with a clinical psychologist who did the cortisol research on babies left to cry it out - they get permanent neuron brain damage! So she is very upset that medical doctors still promote this "let the baby cry it out" method - I was reading a supposed "learned" op-ed recently that promoted the same thing. Why? So another funny thing is this "trans-sexual" surgery claim when any good biologist knows that female mammals have way more oxytocin neuroreceptors which is what creates the female-baby love bond. So it's impossible to create females through some sort of tax-deductible surgery (no matter how many political toilet signs they change). haha. No - we don't want to accept ecological limits - instead "technofeminism" is promoted - this also goes back to Chimpanzee culture.

And next thing you know the person needs to go on vacation - like attend a climate conference or fly to Costa Rica for some spiritual vacation! haha. yes even indigenous cultures are struggling to defend their specific ecologies - and yet they're too overwhelmed to be able to look at the dynamic of the whole late capitalist industrial juggernaut (communism-fascism, etc.). Look at the saint images of the middle ages - they have Auras around their heads. We think that is fanciful primitivism unless someone studies relativistic quantum biology to realize that the auras were real as ecological biophoton energy! The small business craftsmen used to be a more typical job before industrialism created slave-wage factory jobs. Over 50% of physics is for the military - and so standardization is what a job really is. So then when the North raised Tariffs as protectionism against European manufactured goods - this caused a trade war that punished the South's reliance on exporting cheap agricultural commodities from slavery. And after the civil war then non-whites were not allowed in unions because technical jobs are based on automation which means automation is the number one cause of job loss. Therefore a job is just part of what Cambridge University Press published as "the Evolution of Technology" - Galileo was funded by the aristocrats because Galileo bragged he could cut down on labor costs.
