I took a 2nd look and it is a study of Schadenfreude based on music! This is quite amazing as I have noticed recently that Movies now play HAPPY music while people commit massacres! Like that "BabyDriver" film and a concomitant animation superhero movie that was out - and I saw another example recently - I think it was another Kid's movie. Yes it is Nazi Germany propaganda - Massacres are now glorious Fun because Happy Music creates Dopamine Bliss (vagus nerve from the chills aka frisson) and Violence is ALSO dopamine bliss. Only when the male ejaculations then the dopamine bliss of lust/violence is switched or triggered into a Cortisol STRESS spike (hence creating a positive feedback addiction between dopamine lust/violence and ejaculation stress for Male Chimpanzees and Male modern humans). As someone who trained and studied in music - I was particularly disgusted at the use of Happy blissful music as backgrounds to massacres and sure enough - that study proved a stronger Schadenfreude effect from happy music during massacres.

Thus, the study tentatively supports the suggestion of Schadenfreude varying with music and personality differences.Let's face it - propaganda works. We as "modern humans" (no longer living in the forest where sound is the dominant perception) are subconsciously controlled visually - and so now Sound is used to amplify and modify our subconscious visual stimulation. Sound can be used to guide and change our "normal" (i.e. moral) responses of empathy and compassion.

Sometimes another donkey far away would bray in response. Turning the world inside out in sonic delirium in the darkness of the night, this animal cry out of nowhere opened up a swathe of mimeses.
The pain in that sound was too much for me to bear. No wonder Plato goes to such lengths as to warn against imitating horses neighing. And if he was so uptight about a horse, one can only imagine his horror at the thought that the future guardians of his more than perfect republic would dare mimic a donkey! Language would give up the ghost, logic would disappear, and the republic would fall just like I hear it crashing to the ground outside my window. Is this why the cry of the donkey shivers the soul?
Indeed kissing the donkey’s arse is part of European folklore concerning the cult of Satanic witchcraft. Now, that is mimesis!
In Lévi-Strauss’s essay the actual body of a woman in obstructed labor being sung to by the shaman is actually/also the spirit body of the great mother. It is to the latter that the song is directed so as to assist the earthly mother give birth. But Levi-Strauss is unaware that the hours-long song is directed to the spirit, not the actual mother.
