How many are still homeless from the 2008 US "Great Financial Crisis"? 2025 was highest since 2008

 the number of families entering New York City homeless shelters jumped by 40 percent

 the initial financial panic of late 2008 came dangerously close to matching the severity of the Great Depression. The 2008 Great Recession unemployment peaked at 10%... HUD finds that the number of families experiencing homelessness increased by 9% in 2008

  • Overall Counts: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimated that roughly 1.6 million individuals spent time in an emergency or transitional shelter over the course of a year (October 2007 through September 2008). [1]
  •  An estimated 745,652 people experienced homelessness in the U.S. on a single night in 2025, compared to about 643,000 people in 2009...Homelessness increased 18 percent, from 653,104 people during the 2023 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count to 771,480 people during the 2024 PIT.
  • Why? Because the structural cause of the 2008 Great Financial Crisis was never removed! The Billionaires increased while the middle class decreased....
