Dr. Marta Havryshko holds a Ph.D. in History from the Ivan Franko National University in Lviv, Ukraine.
focuses on the underlying patriarchy of the "solidarity" movements to help the Ukrainian refugees, the victims of the Russian invasion - meanwhile the Russian-Ukrainians who fought against the Nazis are being targeted with human rights abuses. So she acknowledges the original Soviet invasion was just as bad as the later Nazi invasion (that killed 1.5 million Jews) - yet both extreme patriarchal violent "sides" are now the driving force behind the war today.
She is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

At that time, the leadership of the academic institution in Lviv where I worked contacted the Security Service of Ukraine to report my “dangerous activities.” The entire situation was absurd and grotesque, because I was being harassed not just by fringe far-right groups, but also by professors holding high academic positions. That was also the first time I experienced antisemitic verbal attacks that invoked a common trope about the alleged disloyalty of Jews to the Ukrainian national project.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, these attacks became more frequent. The attackers grew more aggressive, believing that by doing so they were “defending Ukraine.”

Thus, the Russian-Ukrainian war resembles domestic abuse, where the abuser desperately tries to preserve his power and privileges over other family members. The vulnerability and partial dependence of these members on the patriarch—who seeks to discipline them through force—requires the intervention of external actors.

Political and ideological factors significantly contributed to the proliferation of sexual violence during the Holocaust. Sexual humiliation of the Jewish body was an inevitable consequence of the dehumanizing Nazi racial theories… Rape could be but one way to punish and humiliate the Jews. In this framework, rapists placed the blame for the rape on women themselves, believing they “deserved” it for their political choice. Consequently, women were raped not just because they were women, but specifically because they were Jewish women.
This research project analyses the causes, patterns, dynamics, and consequences of sexual violence against Jewish women and girls during the Shoah in Ukraine using a gender approach. The main questions under consideration include: Was sexual violence a by-product or rather a tool of genocide? How and why could rape be considered an instrument of terror, humiliation, punishment, revenge, dehumanisation, demonstrating power, bonding among perpetrators, and constructing gender roles? What is sexual about sexual violence in the Holocaust?

Dr. Marta Havryshko reveals how she was put on a "kill list" for exposing the rise of the Neo-Nazi movement in Ukraine - but that no other Ukrainian scholars have spoken in defense of her.
So the NeoNazi movement emphasize "atrocity propaganda" of real Russian/Soviet genocidal history while ignoring or covering up the NeoNazi propaganda as "lesser evil." So people point out that the Holomodor was not exclusively focused on Ukrainians. Yes a good book on this is "Against the Peasant" - a critique of Marxist philosophy.
