So the squirrel figured out how to grab onto that open seam cut through the half and pull itself through it! So I put a sheet metal screw overlapping that gap to close it off better. Then I raised it all higher so the squirrel couldn't jump up to the gap so easily....
So far so good....
So now the squirrel is crawling up the nearby window screen to jump from the screen onto the sheet metal. Only his or her claws are getting stuck in the screen - making it hard to jump. I see no reason why the squirrel won't prevail but usually it takes a night's rest for the squirrel to get truly inspired.
