Did a Gray Fox get devoured by Wolves in the EcoEcho Mini-Forest? I found this tail...Must be a Skunk!

UPDATE: A supporter-reader has correctly ID the tail as a SKUNK tail. This explains the strong Skunk smell that was in the mini-forest - around that area. It was closer to the road. Thanks - and good eye!

So I thought at first it was the neighbor's dog. I don't know what else it could be. But since this is the wild - with Pine Marten and Lynx - I thought I better rule out any  wild fauna...

Whatever ate it left no bones - just the tail - just as with the Pine Marten. But Wolves eat all the bones and I have heard wolf howls. So there might has been some serious Wildlife Action while I was gone...

That's the "nub" of the tail bit - a bit of meat left. I didn't hear the neighbor's dog barking...but let's now compare to the Gray Fox tail...

That looks pretty much like a perfect match! Long hair - black and yellow. Look at the first photo - the black goes down the middle of the tail...

Someone has "preserved" their Gray Fox tail... again looks pretty close.

I didn't measure it but 15 inches seems about correct....

As you can see there's variation in the gray and yellow....

I'm still not sure - it could be a dog's tail...

Oh It must have been a coyote - we have coyotes always running by the area at night. I've never seen a fox around there.

Yeah Coyotes looks like a closer match to be sure.
